How long do boots last? +k

What's the expected life of a boot?

I'm talking about the shell and the liner in general before it starts to lose it's structural integrity. So pretty much, how long does it take for you to buy new boots?

Obviously, the soles are gonna wear out depending on the user.

I currently have 60 days on my salmons x pros.

I heard someone say liners last roughly 100 days, and I'm guessing the shell would last longer.

+k for responses

well i have used myine full tilt classic's for 2+ years now and i'm going to use them until they broke

Cheaper, low-end boots will typically last around 50-100 days because the plastic isn't very durable and the liners will pack out to the point where they completely lose their fit.

Expensive, high-end boots will typically last around 150-200 days because the plastic is much higher quality and more durable, and the liners will be made of denser, longer lasting foams.

These life expectancies will be reduced if you abuse your gear and maximized if you take care of it.

I also have Salomon x-pro's (most comfortable boots ever). I have like 70-75 days on them and they feel the same as when I got them.

They are definitely high end boots. I'm sure you can get 150-200 days out of them before they show any sigs of breaking down.

Liners you get about 100 days, shell is pretty much till it breaks and there's no real set time for that because it has a lot to do with how people are on there boots

Used my dalbello's for 9 years. Loved them so nice. Had to get new ones the foot wore out and didn't work in my binders anymore

thanks for all the response +k to all

Could you please expand on this. I mean I take out the liner to air them out every few days so that the odour doesn't kill people. And I wash the boot after the season is finished.

Am I missing anything else I could do?

Thanks

What killed my last pair of boots was walking on the concrete from the parking lot to the lodge. It's not that far, but if you do 60+ times a year you'll wear out your soles really fast and then they won't click into your bindings properly. I had some boots only last a single ski season due to this wear. Now I walk to the lodge in some snow boots with my ski boots over my shoulder and switch in the lodge.

Liners don't last long at all if you ski long days. I go through a liner or 2 every year skiing 100ish day season. I'm hoping my shell will last several years though since I'm not walking through the parking lot on them.

200 days on my seth mo's and they still feel good as new. Second set of liners is getting pretty packed out though. Nice boots should last awhile but they're fine as long as they feel and function normally. Basically they're good until they break but the performance of the plastic definitely deteriorates when you start to push the 200 day range.

Things on the "don't" list (in no particular order of importance):

don't leave wet boots in your car overnight after skiing (in general don't leave wet liners in the shell. Remove them, and let them air dry).

don't leave your buckles undone when storing your boots (buckles can snag, get twisted, bent, etc)

don't drag your boots when you walk

don't smash your ski edges into the shells (this will happen unintentionally but try not to do it)

don't throw your boots into your car/storage area

In general, if you think doing something might potentially damage your boots, just don't do it. Or at least ask someone if they think it's ok.

thanks a bunch. It's nice to know things that I shouldn't do so the boots last longer

Speaking to jules mills, he said one of his clients got 1000 days out of her injected liners, went through multiple shells. pretty crazy.
