How long after ACL?

So I just got back from a trip to Japam where my acl ended up getting the dick. Just wondering how long its taken people after surgery to get back into it? Wondering if its possible to end up good for the Australian season if surgery is at end of April.

Just to get it straight, i took the rehab quite serious, and did training on my knee 3 times a week. I tried skiing 3 months after surgery, but it was pain. Tried again after 4 months, it was good, except jumping and landing forwards.. took at least 5,5 months to get back 100%.

Maybe not even 100%,still i get pain if i ski like 4 days straight.. maybe I pushed back to soon. It's 3 years since i tore it.

I had a partial tear, ended up not getting it operated on as the surgeon said it was about as good as a repaired one.

I did it in October, did heaps of physio and exercises, skied in January and it sucked balls. It would feel completely sweet most of the time and then one little thing would remind me that it was not at all happy. Particularly spins that weren't perfect (which is all of them for me), but if you hook an edge or fall you'll know about it.

Personally I'd give it at least 6 months post-op before you start going hard on it but that depends on a lot of factors, like how much muscle and flexibility you lose before and after surgery.

You're a dumbass for trying to do anything like that, even at 4 months let alone 3.

I started skiing at ~8 months the first time, no issues at all. Second time on the same knee, started around 7 and skiing was fine, any sort of jumping on skis was a no go. Took a solid month+ after to feel comfortable leaving the ground even over a roller. Now at 11 months I am completely comfortable and confident doing everything in the park minus spins off jumps. Listen to the doc and do what you feel confident with after that.

im 10 weeks out of surgery right now and I'm jogging, no swelling so I'm hoping to ski at hood in july

Spoke to my physio and she said at 3-4 months the ligament wont have had enough time to bond to the tendon. Looks like I'll have a while off.
