How is My Editing?

Heres one of the first real edits I've made, the skier is Nick Rosenburger from CVA:

Nick Rosenberg Spring Edit from Ian Avery-Leaf on Vimeo.

People so far have said I cut to many of the landings. Anything else that sucks? Is cool? Stuff to improve? I would love to hear it to make my future edits better!

wayyy to jumpy. i had no idea what ws going on half the time. the part with the chairlift was kinda cheezy with the color effect. and the title with all the periods? just make em spaces....

glad you had everything on beat though. and nice sking

none of that to bring you down. just giving suggestions

Thanks, and I tried spaces cuz I reallly wanted the title to be over the orange rail, but windows movie shitter didnt allow me to move it with spaces, so I had to use those. Im working on getting Adobe so those types of things wont be problems anymore.

I assume your talking about the switch hit? There was a roller a bit too close to the pond and by the time he did a 180 he was allready in the water by then

start had some really jumpy parts. you can slow it down a bit. keep it simple. you dont have to have something happen to every little beat in the song.

overall it was good though i liked the song so i thought it had a good vibe. with some less shaky shots i can see it being a pretty legit edit.

overall i liked it, keep it up.

There were a lot of shots in there that really didn't need to be, specifically some of the crashes. LIke everybody else said, make the editing less "jumpy". I guess it kinda fits with the song, but I feel like less jumpy songs and more fluid editing is better anyway.

yeah it was jumpy like everyone else said

just some advice for making the video look better, fix the contrast and the levels and color correction, and it should look better

..but i dont know if you can do that with windows movie maker

That's somthing I can't do but want to do, Im working on getting Sony Vegas thanks to a fellow Nser and I would be shocked if you couldn't do that stuff in Vegas

Skiing = goodEditing = goodSong = goodFilming = terrible
Props to you, because that is all you had to work with and i believe that with a better filmer you could produce a sick edit.

Haha thanks, I wish I had a camera like yours but I dont blame it all on the camera, lets just say our camera man needs a little more experience...

honestly that's one of the best first edits I've seen on here. It's really tight(cut fast). The jumpyness that other people are bitching about didn't bother me at all. And the landings were cut fine, a lot of people hold on to landings too long. Maybe just extend a couple of them if you want. I think you did an alright job with the footage you had.

I really like the song and the edit. Some landings were cut a little short but not to where you couldn't see it. And the only other thing was the one air how it went back and fourth across the screen was trippy.

Yea man its all about experience. I was watching some of my first edits from like 2 years ago and i was cracking up at how sketch they were. Both the skiing and editing improves so much from just doing it, its really amazing

who did the filming for this? and yea like mentioned above it is a very jumpy edit and was hard to see him at times due to the light not your fault. good job and keep it up! self edit dropping this summer?
