How is Granite Peak

I am thinking about making the trip out to granite peak around new years but I don't really want to go if the conditions are crap. I know that they are temporarily closed right now but is there any insight on how it will be how it will be around new year.

I'll let you know how it is when I go up tomorrow. How far of a drive is it for you?

Im speaking on his behalf. 3 hours ish through lots of flat farmland. I made the drive alone last year for #sprangbrake #spingbeak

Come up sometime this year homie....and to OP I just asked how far it was because I will take the travel time into consideration of whether or not it's worth it. Before you go to bed tonight pray for a good park this weekend:)

Drove out last spring only to find the park closed and it so icy that I went down runs unintentionally unable to hold an edge (cause I had none). Then Krotch jfox and I biked around Wausau smoking spliffs. 10/10 would do again.

Today there were two runs open with 1000000000 illinois gapers and conditions were deadly.

I have never seen so many people in ski masks and bike helmets in my entire life. Saturdays are nasty.

The 15-day forecast is starting to look pretty good. They might have most of the center runs open by new years eve.

Any updates? Headed up there this or next week. I've been missing the chutes.

Park is the same as it has been for the past month:(...a fairly fun 20 foot jump is up. Rail park is a decent set up but not great for progression I'd say. It's fun, but if you're a regular it's starting to get old.

The jump was fucked today. There were like 4 major injuries... One guy broke his arm and some kid got a major head injury. I think they closed it. Park crew screwed up bad.

Unless everybody forgot how to land a jump. Something is off.

I saw that...maybe the jump was cut bad last night, but in previous days the jump has been perfectly fine. I hate to be cynical, but assuming the conditions didn't change it is mostly the jumpers who got injured faults.

I am heading up in about 2 hours so I wont be getting any laps in today(6 hours drive).

I will be there all day tomorrow and Saturday though, I will hit you up via instagram tho. Hoping the park is ready for some shred sauce.

They shut down the jump last weekend because some kid got hurt. First person reports say his board was coming out from under him right off the takeoff and landed on his head. Supposedly seizures and vomiting blood ensued.

On a real note, the rails were absolutely ridiculously sticky. I front footed a couple rails, almost cartwheeling off.

The chutes are open and they are fucked! So much fun. It's honestly as close as you can get to skiing out west around here.

Magic kingdom glades on the west side of the hill along the left side of the lift have enough snow.

When are you heading up?

I ask again when that time roles around.. in the mean time keep shredding!

Granite got dumped with wet snow... well that's what I heard!

Did they update the park yet? how many jumps? the tree skiing isn't sketchy anymore is it?

7" of snow and it was pow... It really didn't feel too wet as it built up. First time I ever got faceshots in the Midwest.

They are working on the park, they set up a pretty cool table top to wall-ride, and just a big variety of rails. They should have it finished by Saturday. Three jumps now... 30 footer on sky high, 10-15 footer and a 30-footer with a small lip and a huge gap on sugar maple. The second jump on sugar maple is impossible to overshoot... You can just bomb it, so fun. Tree skiing is good to go on the west side but lots of hidden rocks on the east side. Completely worth $73.

PM me if you come up Saturday morning or sunday!

Also a 6-jump line in the beginner park. They are all 10 feet though.
