How hardcore do you ski, when your alone?

Back when I lived only 40 minutes from a local ski resort... and I would go skiing alone, since friends had to work, etc. or no one wanted to go...I would rip it up... without any real fear of if something was to go wrong.. I am only 40 minutes from home. I only had one major accident with a chipped bone on my thumb from a kinked high rail. I drove home with one hand... etc.. it wasnt that bad.

Where I live now... its a 4 hour drive to go skiing... and most of the time... its alone... since its impossible to find people around here S. Carolina who CAN ski or Ride.. and have the time/funds to go. I gotta move. Now I noticed a bit of hesitation in my game... I see a nice huge hit... and I start thinking if I mess this up...trying a new trick... I am 4 hours from home. So I keep sticking with whats comfortable... not progressing.

Anyone else like this?

Any suggestions?

Time alone is good to hit that feature over & over that you've been unable to nail in the past.

Yeah, I never ski as well when I'm alone.  Best time for me is when the park is full of people. It just get you really stoked on riding and you try that much harder to throw good tricks.

I'm the only skier in my park around 90% of the time. So i have to push myself without the help of others. Which blows balls... big big balls. But I tough it out.

i usually go up to the mountain alone and i always know a lot of kids skiing up there, but if they head in for lunch or whatever, i usually ski about the same. i dont have a problem with not being motivated. the only time it helps me is if i dont know how to throw a certain spin (for ex, misty or something along those lines). if i know how to throw it im fine. i only worry that if i fall nobody will be there telling people not to hit the jump

the only time i ever get anything done is when i go to the hill alone, like i like to go with people but my friends arent as into park as me and we do alot more sitting in the snow and chilling wheras when i go alone i just throw on some music and lap the park over and over, it is nice to show up when theres already people there so you have an idea of speed n stuff

and im 35 minutes from the hill and have a pass so sometimes i just go for an hour or even like 2 runs if im in the area for something else and theyre usually the best runs cuz im not tired or hurting yet

When I ski alone I ski amazingly, I dodbl flips and crazy rail spins and switch ups along with switch pow landings and handplants. The only thing is when Icome to ski with people again, I suck and nobody ever sees my awesome skiing.

i dont no how your mountain works but here at springs when i ski the park alone there tons of rippers in there. i usualy just talk it up or whatever and make some local freinds, usualy they push my to try new things but if i did get messed up i bet they would help a fellow parkrat out even if they dont know you real well.

just rip it bro, someones got ur back

i'm fine with riding park alone, but i ski pretty conservatively when i'm skiing powder by myself unless there's a drop right under the lift or something.

I live super close to the ski hill, but I only ride alone sometimes because I don't have a car, so i usually ski with whoever I got a ride with. when i go anywhere far away, its always with my brothers or friends so we obviously stick together

I ski best when I'm alone. But I get better at skiing when I'm with people who are better than me.

i like skiing along, because i get super motivated and focused, but it really takes the fun out of it.. it becomes too much like pure training.

if i'm pushing it or not actually depends on who i'm skiing with, or if i'm all alone. Even though i', not really that good yet, my friends are even worse, and they never try new shit in the park.. just going straight air with some safetegrabs.. But if i'm alone, i try pulling of different spins with different grabs. then if i mess up i wont hear it from my friends. They think hat because they don't fall they're good, but ya'll know that if you don't fall, you're not trying hard enough, right?

4 Hours? Holy shit. That blows.

I can leave my house and be on a lift within 15 minutes. I don't even live on the hill. Fernie for the win!

i love skiing alone, because then i can try tricks i dont land on the first try. usually at my local park, if you bail, its almost guaranteed that you'll have 5 boarders jump right after you. its a suicide to try anything you dont land for sure.

i don't push myself that hard, but what i do is i find something more on comfortable side and just hike and hit as many times as i can working on things or trying working my self up to throwing something bigger

I enjoy skiing alone, i push myself way hard either way. When im alone i can do whatever i want and not feel pressured to make something look good. I just work on whatever and feel like i accomplished something. Ive even hit urban rails alone

exactly the same.

i think i ski A LOT better by myself, i just feel more concentrated. but if i ski with people better than me which this year i can't do as much since my cousin moved to CO, but anyways i get a lot better that way...

I mostly ski alone. I find I push myself harder all-mtn because I like to have time to do my own thing, pick a cool line etc. But I won't hit the park alone, it's a lot more intimdating

when I ski alone, I love that you don't have to wait up for your friends, you can just listen to music and get shit done. You can go on whatever runs you want or trees without worrying about where your friends went or what lift they are going up and what not. You also don't have to go to lunch when you don't want to. I still think it's more fun with buddies. But yeah, hardcore when im alone. most def.

yea when im with a bunch of ppl I feel a littl pressured for everything to look clean. I like skiing alone better especially if Im riding with ppl that arent that serious about it. I usually wont hike stuff if im with other ppl. I def learn

theres tons of very good skiers who ski my park so that makes me want to push myself a bit, when i am alone i just sort of mess around usually, nothing to hard, i cant drive yet but it only takes 15 mins to bus to my mountain and like 7 minutes to drive tho

i ski waaaaaaaay better with some buddies....if i see someone do a rail or something, i think to myself, i can to that too...thats waht motavates me and it works

When I'm with my bros I try alot more new stuff then when I'm alone do it over and over to get it down so next time I'm with my friends I can nail it first try.

Whenever I ski alone I am alot more cautious because if you get hurt bad then you have to have somone come out. If you are with friends they can figure everything out for you. That being said, new stuff with friends, nail stuff I have been working on when I am by myself.

i think im the exact opposite of that

i would rather fuck myself up in the park when skiing alone than fucking my self up somewhere on the mountain alone, in the park there are always people around so yeah...

I ski harder shit when im alone because no-one would want to follow me down. But I am usually with friend on pow days and thats whan I go the biggest.

i ski harder with my friend. we always rock paper sissors who has to go first and throw down. When i'm alone I just become content with what I can already do.

ha I go skiing by myself a lot. Its less than a 20 min. drive so its pretty sick. I'll leave at like 3 from my apartment, lap the park 50 times on the highspeed, and be back home by 6. Its nice not to have to worry about anybody else also. You can just focus and get shit done.

I don't throw down nearly as hard on my own- I'll hit more booters and such but I'm more of terrain skier than a park rat, so I'm not going to duck the bounds and go slay some trees on my own, just due to the fact that if I fall, I'm pretty fucked. But then its all about the right mix, most of my friends slow me down a fair bit.

i went today after school, there was never more then 6 ppl in the park and 3 of them were the park staff so it was so awsome i just listened to music and lapped the park it was so chills and everything was perfect, deff the best day so far this year skiing wise

i love skiing alone. just turn up the music. spin laps like its your fucking job. i stay in my skill threshold tho. not really trying new tricks except for like 27ing on to a box that ive never spun on to and stuff like that. no new tricks.
