How far can they punch out ski boots?

Hi All,

Looking at picking up a pair of ski boots on the cheap. Salomon Quest 120.

Last on them is 100mm, I am around 104-105mm. How far can a boot fitter punch out a shell on the width?

I'm skiing In a Tecnica Cochise 130. 98mm last. My foot measures 110mm+ before I put socks on.

Go fond a good boot fitter, and they can make it work.

Go to a bootfitter and get fitted for boots that fit your feet and you'll be happiest camper ever. Trust me. /thread

what size is your boot?

Depends on the boot, the thicker the plastic the more it can take a punch / grind. My feet are 285mm long and happily go into a 27.5 shell. The solly custom shells are like butter when it comes to shaping them. I did mine at home using the the boiling water method on Blister, worked like a charm.

i boot fit in a ski shop in western new york. It depends of the physical boot themselves. Salomon is one of the tough boots to pack out that much. Nordica for example uses infrared technology to blow out boots so its a bit ear to do it. Salmon uses a pretty tough plastic so going from a 100 last to a 105 last will be tough. The liner itself is easy to pack out but the Salomon shell is tougher. my not saying its impossible but that is a big amount of packing out to do.

Same question as above, but slightly different boot.

Salomon Quest Max 130, need them punched out toe 104-105mm. Read they are slighty narrower than the Quest 120.

Also, anyone explain the difference between these Quest and Quest Max? Anything other than stiffness?

Solly plastic is about the softest out there these days, especially the new custom shell ones. I blew out my X-Max 120s by skiing them, not even heated. Compared to the atomic tracker 130s I replaced them with the Sollys were butter.
