How dumb can cops be?

so i'm at a party and we're all hitting a waterfall before we go on a walk. after a while all my friends leave and i'm planning on walking home cause i'm about two block from my house. i didn't have to be home for a while so i was just chilling at this school (which was recently fence off so i had to jump over fences to get in). this is when i see flashlight beams. since i'm still fairly fucked up i decide i shouldn't stick around, but i forget that i can't really jump over fences too well so essentially, i'm trapped. naturally i have some illegal items in my backpack and don't want to get caught with them so i drop my backpack between two garbage cans and try to find a good place to hide. eventually the cops found me and talked to me for what felt like half an hour. my eyes are solid red, my hands are bleeding from the fence, i can barely talk and i'm twitching. naturally they think i'm trespassing, trying to break into the school and are more interested in where my friends are. since they can't get me to say anything intelligent, they just tell me to walk home and then immediately leave. i come back in about ten minutes and get my backpack and go on my jolly way.
are cops always this unaware of what's going on?
 
no, they probably just didn't give a shit really.

What's funny is if they had found your bag and did something causeyou were drunk, you'd probably be complaining about how unjust it was, people would be saying fuck the police, they had nothing better to do etc etc etc, the usual bullshit.

So be happy, you got off easy this time.
 
some cops just dont care, i've had cops tell me and my friends to just go home instead of searching all of us. but some cops actually suck at their jobs ahah. i know a guy who was getting ripped in his car with a bunch of friends, cops rolled up, didnt realize they were high, searched the whole car and didnt find his bong or large stash of weed, then let them go and they drove away lol. im thinking they just didnt care, all cops know what a wasted kid looks like, they'd probably just seen so many that night that they didnt care.
 
cops arent stupid, thats for sure

but most cops usually have better things to do than search some high school kid becuase they think he might be doing something bad.

they really dont give a shit though. They want to be at home chillin out just as much as you do.
 
I remember thinking like that once and then a guy I knew told me something that changed the way I looked at police forever. No matter who you are, cops are the one group of strangers who no matter what would throw themselves in front of a bullet for you. There are obviously a few exceptions but for the general public, especially young'uns I'd find this to be a true statement.

Sure they'd get mad compensation and they do kind of get paid for it, but I think getting shot might not quite balance it out.

And I doubt they were dumb, it just probably wasn't worth their time.
 
They are by no means unaware, but If it's a good cop, he'll stick around and do his job, which is to protect the general public. If he saw that you weren't causing damage to anything or anyone, and didn't really find it necessary to get you in a ton of trouble, then power to both of you. Just learn from it, and try to always be respectful to them and try to make them see that your not just another stupid kid who wants to get drunk and fuck with things. You never know what you expect from people.
 
idk bout that. guranteed if some cops were in a situation where no one was around and 1 person was shooting at another kid, not all cops would throw themselves in front the bullet, especially if they knew they could get away with not doing it.
 
If they had busted you, this thread would have said something about how you were pissed that you got busted and all you were doing was getting drunk and high and trespassing. Quit complaining, this falls into the category of: "They had better things to do," which is a good thing right....

Seems like the cops were chill as fuck in this situation, not stupid, well maybe they were but at least you got off fine, and nobody got screwed.

I guess people just hate cops no matter what.
 
your missing the point. cops put themselves into a hell of a lot of danger for people they don't know; and we just give them shit.
 
by the sounds of it the cop knew you were fucked up, im guessing that when he asked where your friends were you probably said "i left a house everyone else was leaving too" so he didnt have to worry about an underage drinking partychances are if he was around a school with a flashlight he was making sure you wernt going to be vandalizing anything. Once he could tell you wernt going to, it probably wasnt worth him bringing you in for having a good time and walking home by your self minding your own buisness.

Ive had cops go from set on throwing me in cuffs and bringing me to the station (wasted pissing on the city liberary while drinking a beer in public all underage stupid as hell i know, i was wasted) to letting me go and just telling me that he better not see me doing something stupid again because he didnt wanna have to deal with a drunk college kid pissing on a wall. So as much of a power trip as some cops can be on, others are just gunna rattle you, make you know what you were doing was wrong if it didnt hurt anyone or anything and send you on your way

Some cops are good some are bad, don't judge the rest of them because a few of them are fucking pricks. Same with every profession though, we don't hate all NFL players because of Vick, we don't hate all snowboarders because of Kass.
 
Its kinda nice to see a few people not saying fuck tha police sometimes... I know its popular to "rebel" against "society" sometimes, but in all seriousness, I have never been fucked over by a cop. There are about 5-6 instances before I turned 21 in which I should have gotten an MIP, and instead, I was just reasonable with the cops and they were reasonable with me. There was this one gravel lot behind a wherehouse me and a few buddies always used to drink at and the cops rolled up on us once day, all of us being 17 or 18 and instead of giving us MIP's, just had us pick up beer cans left over from us and other people thrown into the bushes and let us go. If you respect them they respect you, hell Ive been pulled over for speeding 4 times and have gotten 1 ticket.....going 90 in a 70 and the officer only wrote it for 75, a whopping 71 dollar ticket.There just ou there tryin to earn a living like the rest of us. And you gotta keep in mind that if they do stop you and your driving fucked up or about to drive or what not, if they let you go and you go out and hurt someone or something and it comes back that they had stopped you earlier, its their asses on the line.
 
dude u honestly need to realize when u got a break and not call this cop an idiot because he gave u a break and decided not to most likely ruin ur night and im sure a week or two with ur parents... this reminds me of the thread on that other forum that got posted here about the kid fighting a speeding ticket when i the cop gave him a break.
 
Like said before, you definitely didn't get off because of stupidity. Cops may be a lot of things, but they are definitely not dumb, and they don't overlook shit very often.
 
i've met a lot of cops and usually i'm entirely in the wrong situation to ask them any coherent questions and whatnot. overall, i'm pretty sure that i've always been in the wrong and they had every right to get my in trouble. now to the degree they chose to do so made me gain and lose respect to different cops. sometimes i've gotten lucky, sometimes i've had to pay a fine or go to court. most of the time, they know if you've done something wrong and theres no way in hell they didn't know you were fucked and did something wrong. plus you got caught tresspassing. they just didn't care enough to fuck you over i guess.
 
they probably realized you were fucked up coming home from a party and that you were too messed up to try to break in, so they didnt really care. if i were a cop roaming at night i wouldnt want to take the time to search a stoned hs kid, id prolly rather be at dunkin donuts or asleep
 
sorry if this is a little off topic, but cops jobs are to protect and serve and make you feel safe right? but when was the last time that you saw those flashing lights (whether your doing something bad or not) and actually felt safe? i mean i even get nervous when im driving safe and at the speed limit and i see a cop behind me even if hes just trying to get around me for someone else. hell, i even feel nervous when the cops behind me without lights or siren on at all! does anyone else feel like this?
 
not sure for you, but the cops where I live are retarded. I was at a party that got busted and was completely shit faced when I just walked out the back door in plain view of a cop and got away
 
yeah you should be stoked you got awayhaha i live in reno and deal with the actual reno 911 today i got pulled over for "looking suspicious" cus i was leaving a park with a bunch of friends when he drove bythe cop then tried to search my car which i refused since i had a pipe and an empty bottle of sailor jerrys in the backhe tried to tell me that i didnt have a choice to refuse the search but after arguing with him for awhile and pretty much showing him that i knew my rights and that he had no probable cause to search he let me go bahaha, thats like the third time its happened to me so farcops - 0me - 1
