so throughout the election ive noticed that barack obama gets an advantage out of being black. i mean it seems like if u criticize the guy u sound like a racist. i found this interview though where he uses the phrase "typical white person" http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/03/barack-obama-my-grandmother-is-typical.html. wtf barack. u cant just go around grouping white people together as being all the same, cuz that sounds pretty damn racist to me. seriously how does he get away with this shit? u bet if mccain used the phrase "typical black person" the leberal-biased media would be all over it and his campaign would literraly be over in a matter of a day. but obama calls his grandma a "typical white person" and i goes completely unnoticed. yeah i guess all us white people are the same in obama's eyes. what a douche, im so fucking tired of him playing the race card, just talk about how ur gonna help the country instead of stereotyping groups of people and making urself seem like a victim cuz of ur skin color. i really hope mccain wins even though i dont agree with him on a lot of shit either

Within a matter of minutes the majority on NS will rationalize what Obama said with stuff like "You have no idea what its like to black" "He has the right to be racist, after all, all white people are still racist against blacks, this is the US KKK A" then the member to member hate will begin. It probably already has before I finished this post.
 
i fully agree with you... i do hope McCaine wins now even though i dont agree with him on most of his stuff but he would be way better than oboma or hillary...

i can't emphisize (sp?) enough how i hate it when that son of a bitch plays the race card....thats the reason there is still racism, blacks always bitch about being "black"...no offense to anyone by saying that, im just trying to prove a point on the "race card" issue.

 
I would have started it. and its the KKK stuff that's wrong. Typical white people (I used it) are subconsciously racially prejudiced towards black people, just because black people are obviously physically different than whites, who are the majority race in America. If you see people who live in a community where black people and white people are finely integrated, then you can see that people are desensitized to this integration. However wrong this may be, it's the truth and I hate it how there is prejudice in the world because of skin color.
 
You're right, racism still exists and it will never get away but the fact that people rationalize one person's racism and condone another just fuels the fire. I lived in rural Arkansas for two years and black people there are definately treated unfairly. Now I live in central Montana, it could be said in my town that the native Americans are treated unfairly by white people or that white people are treated especially unfair on reservations or indian towns ( I know this first hand). Will it help the problem for the white man to further institutionalize the Indians and keep forcing them onto reservations or for the Native Americans to target white people through vandalism of schools or breaking out windows?? The only real way to end racism isn't to point fingers at other races but to ignore the negative connotations that go with each race and celebrate your diversity. This isn't going to happen with phrases like 'typical white people" being exchanged or obamas crazy pastor, wright, spewing his racist rage.

Those examples may seem crude or unfair but I wanted to use real things that I know have happened in my area.

that's the way it is pretty much all the time, I think. I once heard in the news about a black basketball player who took his ex to court for custody of his half black son, whom he didn't want to grow up in "white culture". honestly?

anyhow..I'm baffled.

I fail to see how McCain is better than Obama or Hillary (without the ridiculous argument that Hillary is a "bitch"). he wants to keep American soldiers in Iraq (and move into Iran?), for 100 years and that is what's causing the recession. even if 100 years is an exaggeration, the fact that he doesn't want to at least lessen the war (which is pointless) should be a warning signal. not that I would expect such a move from the republicans..

he's an old conservative war veteran, and he sounds worse than Bush, who is just unintelligent. if I was american, I'd be for Hillary but I'd rather vote for Obama than McCain.
 
i think this preacher guy has a point. makes sense to me. not like the jews are bad shit but like the whitehouse is lying and america is just up to its eyes in corporate bullshit.

if ur talking about me ur wrong. im 18 and will be voting in my first election for mccain. and to somebody who adressed the war issue i still think mccain has a better veiw on it than obama. obviously im not for 100 years war in iraq. but obama wants to just up and leave the second he gets inaugurated (sp?). BAD IDEA. ever hear of a place called afghanistan? well back in the cold war we helped them fight off invading soviets. then as soon as the soviets were gone we just peaced and left them in chaos. you can see how this would piss them off. 20 years later osama bin laden and the taliban hate us, probably enough to bomb the wtc (although we're not exactly sure who did it). my point is we gotta leave iraq at a good time, when its stable, or else we're just fucking thr country over and itll be afghanistan all over again. mccain wont keep us there for 100 years, he was just proving a point that we have to stay untill the job is finished, even though its a job we probably shouldnt have started in the first place.
 
either way, we cant just pack everything up and leave Iraq. it needs to be a gradual process because if it isnt, Iran will then hop into Iraq and take over.

 
Wow......seriously, like everyone else said, you need to learn some economics and not just spit back out whatever the media is spoon feeding you. How is this war causing the recession? War's are great for economies, so much money is spent by the government as well as other people that they have a tremendous boost to the economy. How do you think we got out of the the great depression? How about the depression of 1914? And all things considered, this war really isn't that bad. I know alot of people over there, and they say it is completely different than what the media reports. Plus, the US can't just leave Iraq, do you have any idea of what would happen? It wouldn't be good, even if we are there for the wrong reasons, it's too late now and things still need to be fixed.

yeah some things were far fetched, namely the aids stuff... and im not 100% sure on his position against the jews... but the majority of what he said was completely logical and true... everything he said about the lies that have been told concerning this war... everything he said about "god damn america for treating its people less than human".... all that i agree with...

this country is in such a comfort zone with what we have been told... that its too scary for anyone to think that your own govt is killing its own citizens and that they are lieing to you...

why is this such a "RADICAL" concept to everyone? its not like its never happened before....

How does Hillary get away with taking the largest corporate payoff on record and get away with it? Not to mention it was from HMOs while she was trying to pass her healthcare bill. Oh yeah she gave it back after somebody noticed.

Fuck that, Obama is the man. Why do I not care about him using the race card? It has nothing to do with the fact that he's black, half white, Muslim, a quarter blue, or anything else. All politicians lie and all politicians play dirty because if they don't, the other guy will and as most of us know... nice guys tend to finish last. You have to fight fire with fire. Obama has been criticized relentlessly by the Clinton campaign despite a very clean campaign on his part, one that focused on the issues and his message of change rather than slandering Hillary... so he takes the fact that he's half black and uses it to his advantage every once in awhile, who gives a flying fuck?

This is nitpicky bullshit for people who want an excuse to hate on Obama because they didn't like him to begin with - congratulations on your hypocrisy. On the same token, I don't hold it against Clinton for lying about sniper fire. Sure, it makes her look pretty foolish and lame, but a spade is a spade. Everyone knows the Clintons bend the truth, Bill was in fact a master of bending the truth so hard it looked fucking straight, so this isn't news. It doesn't reveal anything about her character, it was just a dumbass mistake on her part. If you liked Clinton before, this shouldn't change your opinion.

People can misspeak, though, and while they deserve to be called out on it (and he has), you have to draw the line reasonably. If you actually think the guy is racist, that he thinks all white people are the same and they're all afraid of blacks, well, you're a moron, and you shouldn't vote even if you are old enough.

Wait, did you say it's HELPED him in this election that he's black? Never mind, don't just refrain from voting, refrain from procreating. That's just idiotic. Yeah, because being a half-african is REALLY a vote getter. What a lucky guy, I'm sure he can win the general just riding that race thing, because being black is an automatic 5 point bump!
 
Also, if having multiple 24 hour news cycles dedicated to the quote, having to give a 37 minute speech (which by the way was the best speech on race since King, and then pundits start saying it will "scare away the whites"), and having entire panels of fox news hacks hypocrticially dedicated to calling you a bigot, if that's "getting away with it" well then...

that's the only word Obama has to mention to win the election, several of his rallies have the word "CHANGE" posted around where he is speaking. He's used the single word "CHANGE" to gain a huge following.

It's nearly becoming a trend to want change and to want Obama to win.

now here's where I'm really going to go out on a limb and probably get flamed for it...

Hitler used the same strategy of "CHANGE" to gain popularity in Germany. Both him and Obama are using it at a time when citizens want change because the country is weakening or in trouble. Both of the quickly obtained a large group of supporters who simply want change. Lots of the time people don't even know what we're going to change (excluding Iraq) or why they're hopping on the "CHANGE" bandwagon

 
Actually, stupid people shouldn't be allowed to vote. There are smart people who disagree with me... you're not one of them. There are plenty of reasons that he should be president, but my post was more in the vein of pointing out both your stupidity, and the fact that the reason you so inconsiderately inflicted upon us with your thread was not a very good reason at all. So instead of changing the subject, let's stay on topic. You're a moron. He's not a racist. He shouldn't have said "typical". He screwed up. No one will die in a foreign country for no readily apparent reason as a result of that minor screw-up. Get over it, focus on something important.
 
we talked about that in english today. its funny how the media will let him get away with "typical white person" but if anyone made a comment involving the phrase "typical black person" they would have a huge problem with a lot of people.
