How do you search for live music?

What up NS,

I just landed a job doing the booking and promotion for a little music venue in Fall River, Mass, Waterstreet Cafehttp://www.facebook.com/TheRoomWaterstreet?sk=app_200193303353101 They have a website, but it's pretty laughable so if you guys want to check it out, for now, I recommend the Facebook page.

Anyway, for all the NS music goers out there I was wondering if you could help me out and let me know how you go about searching for shows to go see?

Do you keep on top of different venue/band websites? Do you check out newspapers like Mercury and Phoenix? Do you like bands and venues facebook pages? Do you check out websites like jambase and reverbnation?

Any and all help is super appreciated, if you guys are local to South Coast Mass/Rhode Island feel free to shoot me a pm, I can hook you up with some free tics if you do some street teaming, flyer posting, facebook taging etc.

THANKS

i just look around alot, make the website have a calender of shows, because its best to be able to look through them all at once and pick what you want to see and what not

The handful of bands that I obsess over I just follow all the time anyways, but for everything else: Phantasytour, The Untz, JamBase, and then venue websites near me like highergroundmusic.com or stage ae/promo west live

Thanks so much guys, +k to both of yea. I had never heard of the untz, so glad i made this thread cause thats a really cool site. Thanks again!

I usually notice through friends on facebook that pop up as attending and event in the news feed

Word, thanks guys, I appreciate all the help!

If you know any up and coming bands that tour New England or even Mass/CT/RI, I would really like to bring in as many new bands into this venue as possible. Better yet, if you are in a band, have some friends who have a band or know of a band in your high school, let me know, especially if you are from around Fall River, MA. I'm always scouring the webs to try to find new bands, looking at bands face book pages and seeing which bands they like, or venues face book pages and doing the same, but obviously I am not even scratching the surface.

I can't guarantee that they are going to make a ton of money, but at least they will be getting more exposure. Obviously they will be paid, but just not a shit ton.

Thanks again for all the help guys and like I said before if anybody is from the area, like UMASS Dartmouth, Roger Williams, Salve, or any of the Providence schools, let me know if you want to help out in exchange for free live music.

Peace, RIch
