How do you rename a .app in osx

I can't seem to change the file name for this app...i can rename any other files, but why not apps?

find the icon in your HD, not the one from your dock. control click on it and select "get info" open the little drop down menu that says "file name/extension" and then just edit from there, i just did it

only thing i can think of is changing your permissions under "sharing and permissions" so you can read and write? maybe?
