I have never used the spk 85, but I did use the spk kid versions a few years back. To be completely honest, I hated the boot. They were incredibly painful to get on and weren't that comfy (granted the bootfitters at my local store are not that great). The heel pieces wore out incredibly fast. Now I use a pair of Full Tilt drop kicks and I love them. I recommend going to a bootfitter. And If you are set on the spk's than get next years model. I believe they are going to have an intuition liner.
Unless you have wide feet and full tilts don't fit. The OP saw a boot fitter and fits into SPKs instead of full tilts so for him SPKs are better. Both sollys and full tilts have fairly crappy construction in their lower end boot models so I doubt there is much of a quality difference between the two.Your boot is your most fucking important piece of equipment, and the number one thing (far more important than boot construction or if every 12 year old jibber wears them) is fit.
Your post added nothing useful to the discussion except for maybe confusing any gapers who don't understand boots and causing them to buy full tilt, even if SPKs or dabello or lange or whatever are the better boot for them.
Got fitted really well into my 09/10 spks in 09 and 4 seasons on they have massively packed out but they're still comfortable. Due to the packing out I have to basically buckle them all the way or theyre laterally sloppy. Had to get insoles to help with the sloppiness and having to much room. In terms of flex I have completely outskied them I started as a beginner in them and I've got far more agressive and started hitting larger features and skiing generally more technical terrain and I just feel that I'm crumpling them when I flex them. I would say they are a great forgiving boot for a beginner (assuming they fit properly) but if you are a competent and fairly aggressive skier I would recommend getting a higher flex boot, that obviously fits your foot.
obviously your boot fitter sucks, if you had an spk ,which is 104 wide, and you now have drop kicks ,which are 98 wide. sounds to me that you either bought into the hype of the spk, or your boot fitter is shit
