How do you guys like the 4frnt renegades?

what do you guys think of the renegades? worth the $? im looking for a good set of bc touring skis and these look like they fit the bill

What type of touring do you mean by this. For slackcountry and short bc day missions they should be fine. But if you're looking at more serious, longer and more technical touring, I'd reccomend something smaller and lighter. Also personally I wouldn't want something with full reverse camber, in order to better handle some of that less favorable snow that you'll inevitably encounter in the bc environment, because it isn't all perfect powder all the time.

As a powder ski in the quiver, it's fantastic.

I wouldn't want it to be my only touring rig though. Unless you only plan on touring when you can guarantee that you will be skiing powder. And short climbs.

Sure, it can be a touring ski. But I would use inserts or plates on it and have a second, more all-around ski for touring as well.

Yeh, 11/12 is definitely my favorite Renegade graphic, if not one of my all time favorites, I prefer it to the 13/14 and the 12/13 is just ugly in my opinion.

However OP graphics is no reason to justify a ski purchase.

renegades have pretty spotty fit and finish. Almost every one Ive seen has had noticeable flaws. Look like a fun ski but i wouldnt buy them. just my 2 cents

Also need to consider the type of skiing you're gonna be doing- the Renegade is a pure charging ski. It's not soft, not buttery, and doesn't like going slow or making short radius turns. It likes being in deep powder and charging steep lines/chutes. It could work as a touring ski for sure but you'd want it to be deep pow.

Do you ski switch a lot? If not, I'd consider the 4FRNT Hoji- that will probably be my next touring ski. More versatile/practical for variable conditions and very light- they were designed with backcountry in mind.

Thanks man this is very helpful! Im in a bit of a position, because I can get the Renegades new for supppperrr cheap through some friends but I don't know about the hoji, I will check tonight

The Hoji is amazing - super nimble and playful yet stable. Would definitely be more forgiving than the renegade and lighter for touring but really depends what it is you're looking to do on this ski. Also if you do consider the Hoji size up - it skis really short.

noticeable flaws? right. more attention to detail goes into that ski than just about any ski on this planet.

Considering how few they make, I'd like to know what their return/warranty percentage is like.

There are quite a few pairs on TGR that have developed strange camber.

I own Renegades, and I love them. But I also bought a blem pair as well.

I have seen a few people note that the 4Frnts coming out of the Elan factory are a little nicer than the White Room ones.

And you're not even close on the level of detail comment.

Hey dude,

I can only say good things about the Renegades. They are the ultimate charging/manuverable ski out there. They turn on a dime, while maintaining ultimate stability at any speed. I have no problem spinning them and because of their mounting point, they have very little swing weight. I've skied on many bigmountain skis, these are by far my favourite.

I ski them in the 186. My specs:

H: 6'2

W: 180
