How do you guys deal with bad days while skiing?

feel like recently every other day skiing has been me feeling like im skiing like shit. How do you guys deal with this?

Just relax, if the things I'm trying to do aren't working out, I try something different or just try to put a different twist on something easy. Or just have fun with a bunch of different turn shapes, do some switch carving looking over my less used shoulder or whatever.

Any day where I come off the hill without an injury is a good day in my perspective.

try and learn / do at least one new thing everytime u go up. even really simple dumb shit. doesnt have to be anything crazy

do a new run entirely switch, learn to spin un natural, learn switch nollies, focus on making good/fast turns, ski off piste somewhere new, try a new scary chute, focus on making ur speed checks steezy, try the S rail, steez up ur 360's etc etc etc - u can always work on something new

if ur constantly progressing (even if its just a minimal progression) ur never gonna feel like ur skiing bad. try new things / tricks, skiing will never get stale, and you will feel like ur getting better.

i can cork, rodeo, back/front flip, drop big ass cliffs blah blah blah, but i literally just learned last week how to unnatty switch 180, and ive been skiing for 20 years...... there is always something u can work on to progress ur skiing.

Fr if you can handle skiing high it always works for me.

Just hit something that you got on lock and it will psych you up

As a hobbyist I guess I have the benefit of enjoying multiple different things at different speeds. If skiing isn’t my thing one day and I wanna chill, maybe I’ll drive around and hike a bit to scope out “the shot” or find something interesting as landscape photography is another hobby of mine. We all have fast days and slow days. Follow most of what others said here that you might connect with and it should be fine. If you’re not enjoying the things you enjoy, then change up how you go about those things. That’s why I used photography as an example here because theres always something new to keep me interested.

Honestly, I go home lol.

been going through some shit where I just can't make myself do anything skiing out of lack of energy .

sucks but we will get through it man.

Today I wasn't having a great day at alta, landing stuff backseat, just not feeling confident on difficult terrain. But it's world tele day, so Alta gave me some free demos! So I finished the remainder of the day dropping knees with my dad

Not the cheapest option, but touring. I have been finding the coolest terrain. The hikes are especially good if you are hiking through cool terrain. You eye up a lot of neet lines.

Go through a period of life where you can’t ski, then you will love every day you get to ski

I live close to the hill so i just do a few more laps, and if i'm not feeling any better, then I go home. Sometimes I land something nice or see a homie to ride with and then it's suddenly a good day.

Ski what you want, not what you think you need to. I get burnt out if I try to spend my entire day in the park even if I'm trying to learn something. Take a lap in some trees, talk to a stranger on the lift, look for some cool side hits around the mountain. The park will be there when you get back (probably).

Same here. If it's sucking I just go home and come back the next day or two after some good rest.

If it's a lack of comfort on park tricks, get on it more and get that muscle memory up. Listen to some music. Warm up on mellower stuff/easier tricks to get the confidence up.

If in general. Rip some groomers. Don't be too hard on yourself. Probably skiing better than a lot of people. Honestly at some point you'll wish you had some of the shitty tricks you used to have.

Riding different stuff def helps but it depends on the mountain you're at. I love hitting some steep techy stuff or big groomers, but I'm at a mtn with a lot of that. Some places the park is kinda everything.

Somebody mentioned mushrooms in here. Honestly I stay pretty positive, really get in the zone and ride well when I eat them. I ride better but also have a better outlook regardless. It's easy to beat yourself up if you're skiing shitty and can't land some tricks. It happens.

Easier said than done but it's just a stupid sport sliding around on snow. It's fun, just have some fun. Also mentioned about coming back from injuries. After my first big injury I remember how much fun I had riding groomers when I got back. Idk shit like that. Some days are meh, but I try to relax and have fun. Some days aren't you're day in the park. If you have other zones on the mtn maybe rip around. Come back to the park later or the next day. Regardless don't dwell on it. IT's easy to get frustrated but the whole reason you got into it was to have fun. So have some fun!

/sparknotes TLDR = Skiing is fun have fun

just chill out and have fun, dont gottta be doing pro tricks everyday. The only bad day skiing for me is a day where myself, or a friend gets a serious injury.

Don’t put pressure on myself. Usually fixable with some form of drugs

If the weather is shit I usually have a shitty day. Take a few days off, wait for a super sunny/warm day and go and rip
