How do you get rid of the black circle when using a fisheye?

I don't really know shit about cameras or editing but we filmed with a fisheye and you can see a black circle in the film because of it. Here is the link to a video i made:http://www.vimeo.com/3088637.How do i get rid of that?

Ill add to the brilliance..

zoom in untill you dont get black.. that will fix your black circle problem!

/sarcasm

ya if you got a wide angle instead of a fisheye youd be all set. I guess you could zoom in a bit til its not there but depending on the lens and how far youd have to zoom it could turn the quality really shitty cuz it gets outta focus.

there are two types of fish eyes, full frame, and circular. full frame will not have the circle around it but may cut out some of the image corners, they have a similar distortion but usually are not as distorted as a circular. some fisheye screw on lenses for video cameras will change from circular to full frame if zoomed in depending on the lens. most of the cheap conversions can change from either one depending on the zoom.

ill be back to sundown again next year but i dont think it will help me with the black circle problem. Thanks for all the help from everyone else

If your fisheye has a macro lens attatched to it, try to mod it without the macro. Then you'll have a wider lens and when you zoom in passed the black it will be just as wide as before or wider but without the vig (black circle).

Also make sure your not in "steady shot" when filming with a fisheye, because that can make vig apear, even when you dont see it while filming.

Wait. Wait. Wait.
Do you have a fisheye lens? Or is it a setting on the camera that says "Fisheye"
It doesnt look like a fisheye to me....

you really can't remove it.some lenses have them and some don'tgo to your local camera store and ask them for one that doesn'tdo that.
good luck

WOW amazing how WRONG people can be in this thread.

Of course there is software to do fisheye correction. The distortion that results in the circular image and the black circle can be undone, projecting the image back to a rectangle.

Check out this software from Nikon: http://www.nikonweb.com/fisheye/

This is for photo, but if it can be done for photo, it can be done for video.

and to the thread creator, sucks that you set your camera to interlaced, and your fisheye is really, really shitty.

Some observations and suggestions from a stranger on the internet:

IMHO ditch the fisheye and do some more shooting. The fisheye effect doesn't make up for boring cinematography. Shoot with the normal lens, and get creative. Interestingly framed shots are worth so much more than shaky follow cam footage.

When you're not doing follow cam, and just handheld static (oxymoron?) shots, let the skier leave the frame after he lands. This will help you out when editing because it doesn't look that great when you cut with him still in frame. After the trick is landed, there's nothing more to see, so stop panning and let the skier leave the frame, or better yet dont pan at all. Also tripods work wonders, though they can be a bitch to lug around the hill. Your stuff is pretty good, but you've got potential to do much better.

after closer inspection:

- turn off the interlacing, i.e. shoot full frame

- turn off the image stabilization (OIS) when using the fisheye

- seems like you have a fisheye that doesn't fit your camera

good luck!
