hopefully those are enough examples...kinda grainy and "old vintage look"

Shoot film. But it's not that easy, film takes practice to get right. Buy yourself a used film cam and go to town.

Those aren't good scans either.

Or, the iphone has an app, just as good as film.
 
for a photog class i made my own film cam..

quaker oats box, pin hole (aperture) and my finger is the shutter HA

i'll look into it, wasnt sure if i could make similar shots just using my 7D and making them look similar to that in post
 
If your talking about hipstamatic, its good, but its nothing compared to film.

And OP, photography is something to work at, there is no "auto good" preset that you are looking for. There are some damn near close "auto almost good" buttons though and thats just plain scary.
 
Hipstamatic is amazing! obviously not as good as film, but sometimes I am astounded at the pictures I can take on my iPhone!
 
shoot with a holga, and get lucky

OR

very specifically learn a lot of things about film processing and fuq with an old film camera so you can control light leaks
