How do you bend FKS brakes?

i heard posting in the right thread helps.
also i normally bend mine by putting a searchbar on each one and then just pulling a little.

take a broken pole or a old one and cut it about 10in down from the handle. The opening should be wide enough for you to put the brake into it. then bend it using the pole to whatever angle you want.

Just use a bolt cutter to snap off the breaks, and then cry about your misfortune. Its a helluva lot quicker and gives you pretty much the same result.

There is a thread on TGR about this, its got pictures and everything, use the search bar..

Its not an easy task, takes several hours the first time you do it and if you want to do it cleanly, you have to remove the brakes completely from the baseplate and bend them using a vice and a blowtorch(optional but really helps bend metal). The spring is a real bitch to put back in if you dont have the trick.

You know you can order brand new baseplates + wide brakes from rossignol for like 50$...

eh...half of what you said is true.

Not several hours unless you're really mechanically un-inclined.

Took me like an hour the first time.

You also don't need a vice or heat...I find them both to be ridiculous, and a pain in the ass.

I've bent all my brake sets using a pipe, one pair of vice grips, and one pair of channel-locks. And a screwdriver to shove the spring back in at the end.
