How do we feel about dynafit beasts??

Might be worth asking on TGR, there's likely to be more folks using them on there.

If they're a great deal, just get them and post a review on here!

Fwiw I've never found a piece of ski equipment that was just a complete lemon.
 
They require boots to either be modified to accommodate the heel clamping mechanism, or you have to use dynafit boots that have already accounted for this issue. My brother used 14s until the heel piece eventually snapped. Unfortunately finding parts for them now is hard-ish so be prepared. Also, no flat (0° walk) mode for long approaches which was baffling. I think it’s safe to say there’s a reason the dynafit decided to go in a different direction.
 
This is anecdotal but I know 2 people with beasts and both of them have blown up a toe piece, only one of them being someone that sends big stuff.
 
I didn't like mine very much. They still release when you don't want them to so you might as well get an actual lightweight binding. They wont work great either way.
 
I have the 16, they're old technology now but they are way better than frame bindings. The toe pieces can ice up which can cause issues, but if you're gentle in transitions and spray some silicone lube on them regularly they work great. Treat them like any other pin bindings and don't use them in the resort.
 
Badly. We feel very badly about them. In my opinion there is no deal good enough to be worth buying them right now.

They were not very durable, and now they're not being made anymore, so if/when they break, good luck finding parts.

They require modifying your boots, as others stated, which is a real PITA.

They're not actually any safer than tech bindings, so you're lugging around more fragile parts for no real gains in that arena.

They don't ski much better than lighter, cheaper, and more durable tech bindings.

I wouldn't pay to have Beasts mounted on a pair of skis, even if they were free, right now in 2021. I'm glad they worked well for some people. That said, there's a very good reason Dynafit discontinued them so quickly.

If you have a ballpark budget, and let us know what you're looking to use these bindings for, we can probably throw you some decent suggestions/deals for first tech binders...
