How do others progress so fast

It’s me and my friends first season skiing park he can already do front swaps and 270s on rails or off them. I can only do basic rail slides and can only do them on rails that are the same height as the kicker.

does he go skiing more often than you? has he been skiing longer out of the park than you? does he play hockey?

its mostly just repetition and comitting. some people are just fearless in that way.

He’s been skiing 1 year longer than me but we started park at the same time, and he does do hockey. Does hockey really make a difference?

yes, hockey players tend to have pretty good balance, good edge control, and strong legs. right off the bat they will have an easier time steeping into skis

If someone goes out skiing with a goal everyday and forces them selfs to learn, they will progress much faster. It's all about repetition. Also some people got natural talent and send

I would say he prob send more tricks then you, if you ski with him the same amount of times he does this year you should both be at least decent. sounds like he either has better balance or you need to send the tricks you wanna learn every run. you cant just try it once say ill never get it then ask ns why. does he skate or scooter thoose help for rails a lot

Some people just learn some tricks faster, dont sweat it man. One of my friends can do surface swaps like nobody's business and I always just end up smacking my sack on the rail. Im better than him at jump tricks tho, some things just come quicker to some people

This is my second year on skis, first year in the park. I can backflip, 540, 720 and do swaps Both ways , 4s both ways etc. what I think helped me progress so fast is skiing with someone significantly better than you. I met a british guy at copper who does dub 12s, can hit every feature etc and got his info and ski with him every weekend now. Just following him around and trying new tricks is what got me pretty good so quickly. I also force myself to learn at least one new trick every time I ski.

Skis are basically enormous skate blades. Edge work is real similar and you use similar leg muscles when you play hockey. It makes a big difference.
