How do i back 2?

So currently laying in bed and have my first rail jam tommorow. how do i learn how to back 2 in my sleep? i can come off switch but when u try back 2 i hit my tips on the rail.

OP when i was getting my first back 2s i had to make a concerted effort at dorsiflexion of my ankle/foot so my tips didn’t hit the rail coming off. front 2 u can kinda just swing ur hips and shoulders and fall into the rotation blind 2 u gotta pop off the rail a little bit

ok thanks, i honestly would have given them a shot today but east coast ice storm covered our rails in shit

Find a short rail to practice on. Set a 360º essentially. You're basically gonna kiss the rail while doing a 360º.

Also easy if you find a rail where the skirting doesn't run the whole length of the rail so you can cheat it and dip your tips down while spinning out. Swing them under the rail and not worry about hitting the rail.

OK which one of you psychos downvoted and genuinely thinks tails over is easier

It wasnt me but I was trying lip all day and couldnt get it but tried tails cause looking over the same shoulder. It felt more natural for some reason to get on the rail... still havent gotten them down solid tho

I just realized that maybe the reason i think switch lip is easier and others might thinks tails over is easier is cuz i am comfortable skiing switch but I have a hard time with an exaggerated stagger so coming into the lip its hard for me to maintain vision of where i wanna land on the rail as opposed to lipping on I dont ever lose vision of the rail.

EDIT: just to be clear Ive only tried on small pvc features and can only sometimes mount the rail switch lip looking over my right shoulder whereas I have never sucecssfully mounted trying to go tails over in either direction

Just turn your head all the way and commit to it, your feet will follow. The first few you will land super back seat but you’ll get a feel for the pop out.

I just hit my dome trying one lmao

You need an arm set like you're doing a 3, maybe with your hands a bit lower. You also need to grip the rail to spin instead of your skis just rotating the opposite direction.

Once on the rail, start to wind up just a bit. As you get to the end, start to angle your front toe and back heel down. This will feather your skis to "grab" the rail. Now when you start to unwind your arms and chest just like a 3 on a jump. You will want to time a jump right at the end of the rail. You don't need to crank your neck around like an owl but keep the eyes moving and stay committed.
