How do helmets affect your abilities? Essay help.

I know this is more gear talk/ nsg oriented, but too bad.

I am working on my final for research methods and I am looking at snow sports helmets.

I have covered:

-attitudes of helmet and non-helmet wearers

- ski patrol as role models

-how much helmets actually protect you

-do they impair your senses/ reaction time

I need to propose a new field to look at moving forward. It can only be qualitative, so I can't look at the effects of go pro mounts or visors/ brims.

It should probably relate to current helmet trends and the attitudes people have towards them. I am not allowed to do the effects of built in headphones, as I am not allowed to look at a secondary field.

Any direction would help out as I am a little stuck at this moment.

How about talking about whether helmets make people try more risky things because of the sense of protection? I know it does for me.....

i dont know if this would go under attitude but you could ask if wearing a helmet would prevent you from doing something/going harder than you would without a helmet. like I know if i dont wear a helmet im more careful about what im doing because I know if I fall it could be game over or at least end up with a concussion

I know helmets have saved me from concussion many times and possibly once or twice from death. They are brilliant and I will never not wear one, no matter how much B Dog wears a nice boonie hat or when a Penguins hat looks good with a bally. Wear a helmet, Save your life. Don't wear one, be ready to get hurt.

I never used to be a big fan of helmets until this year. I was always looking for excuses not to wear it, but for some reason, I just threw it on and rode with it every day this season. About half way through, I rode a a day without it and felt completely naked and vulnerable without it. I attempted half as many tricks as I normally do and just felt awkward knowing that my head was unprotected. Looking back, that thing has saved me from so many concussions, and after realizing how bad a concussion can suck after eating shit last season, I don't know why anyone would risk not having one on.

Something about having a helmet makes me a better skier and more aggressive, but not in a bad way, it's more of a confidence booster if anything.

Thats under attitude. Those who wear helmets take part in more risky behaviour. But they are still more safe than those who dont. Casual helmet users take part int the most risky behaviour because they go harder than non helmet wearers. Obviously the study looks outside of the park as well.

I usually only try new tricks when I'm wearing a helmet. I just feel safer with it on. So I would say that a helmet affects my abilities positively. You just have to get used to the extra weight on your head

Feeling safe is good for your performance! Then you can keep calm, and of course go bigger!

But everyone her knows that sometimes even on your safe tricks you can fuck up, or catch an edge or whatever and smash your head!

I've broken to helmets, one of them was fucking torn in half! if it wasn't for them that would have been my skull! Think about that!

Use your head, wear a helmet!

if i didnt ski park, i probably never would wear a helmet. just dont see why not in park, i think alpine skiing its fine though.
