How Did Your Mtn Do This Year?

I'll start with Big Mtn.

Personally, I was really stoked on the snow this year. Even today, closing day, we don't have any bare spots on the runs. Dec, Jan, and Feb were super consistent snow months, and I really can't complain about that. More snow is always better.

After the snow, I am really diappointed with Big Mtn this year.

Grooming: Somebody must be spiking their weed, because the grooming department this year was a major let down. The groomers left unconsistent and crappy grooming all over the place on the main runs, while destroying moguls every chance they got.

The groomers would not groom the inrun or tranny of the jump hill when asked. I can only attribute this to complete lazyness, as the total grooming time takes about 15 mins out of their schedule, and the coaches and athletes bust our asses to make things work.

Our pipe was open from the beginning of March to Closing, today. It was cut a total of twice. As of today, the pipe had two massive kinks in the oververt walls and large rocks sitting in the bottom. I understand that this was their first year with a pipe, but the lack of effort was ridiculous. They didn't blow the snow early on, so the pipe opened late. They should have been practicing cutting the pipe this year so they can be better next year, but no. As far as I can tell, they wasted a good $120,000 on the superpipe this year.

The park was on and off. Some days, it was absolutely amazing. Others, it was not even worth checking out. The grooming was spotty, with some things being fixed and others not being touched. The landing issue was again, an issue, with too short landings abounding in the park. I enjoyed the new boxes. It seems the park crew and the groomers need to work something out, and then the park can improve alot.

I had fun skiing this year, but all the mtn politics really got me down.

yeah big mtn did alright. shitty park crew, no zaugg experience but a pretty good snow year im fuckin pissed its over thoguh

Red Lodge had terrible snow as usual, the park was good for the amount of $, snow, and employs they had. Rails were always good but had really flat take offs, the jumps were built to maximum scare factor with gaps way bigger than the kicker, landing and mountain could handle. They rest of the mountain had lost my interest a long time ago, Fun but I’m glad that it will be that last year I spend hear.

Big Sky obviously rocked, they got 500+ inches on the upper mountain this year. I don't really care about the terrain park at all, but it seems like they finally got things looking good for the last couple weekends. Definitely way late in the season, but I wasn't really bothered by it because I was taking advantage of all the sweet days on the tram! So overall the season was amazing, ski patrol did an incredible job keeping everything open, and huge amounts of snow always help out.

I have to say im dissapointed in the park this year. They started out soo sick in november, the jibs they had on mr k were better maintained and better set up than than both parks were the rest of the year.

Sure, MUCH better than last year, but they COULD have been much better. Just stupid thinks like having fucked up lips on the jumps, not a big enough inrun for a jump, too small of landing for a rail, not a big enough jump onto a rail/box(maybe because the park crew are all boards most of the time), and building jumps with too much pop for the steep ness of the landing are just a few problems they had.

And also, the pipe was gay, once again. By the time the lazy fucks finaly piled up the snow, they sucked at cutting it and never cut it! Then it snowed alot and filled in the bottom, and of course they didntcut it out, they just left the new snow in the base and so at the end of the season the pipe was like 14-15 ft with super fast tranys.

Overall, the park was improved from last year, but it could have been 10 times beter if the park crew wernt so ignorant/lazy/stupid.

discovery blew as usual. they have no park and get hardly any snow. At least we couldn't see the rocks this year(just feel them), better than last year. have to resort to homemade rails/jumps

You should have done it this year, it was insane! It was like skiing a 50 foot wide groomed run tipped at a 45 degree angle, I had a blast skiing it this weekend.

showdon... excellent snow but overall dissapointment. there was enough snow to open a month earlier than they did and 2 weeks after they closed there is still no bare spots.

the park this year was the best since joe pope left but still not great. the big air jump and competition was fun though on a good jump

showdown never had a bad snow day. but park was better than it had been in a while. the vibe was pretty good. Patrol was alright to me i guess, but i dont really do anything to piss them off. Overall i had a good season but the park and opening/closing days couldve been better and longer.
