How did you discover NS?

I was tryna figure out how to build a backyard rail and was searching stuff up until google showed me to build-a-jib 101. I made an account a few months later

honestly through ski knowledge at the time. seemed to be the outlet helping to push skiing in the right direction while others like reddit rejected this notion and this place is fun from time to time.

There was an ad in a ski magazine I picked up. The picture was of someone wearing a Llama costume next to a huge Newschoolers banner on the deck of a halfpipe. I googled "Newschoolers" to see what it was about.

I honestly don’t even remember I feel like I’d always see mfs tagging nsfamous on IG and i checked out ns and made my first account. my name was jamesarmada way back in 2016 lol

Reddit is basically just porn anyway

In 2002 my buddy uploaded a video to NS of us doing backflips on this jump we had built, made an account and the rest was history.

After my first season of skiing I got bored in the spring and searched for skiing discussion forums. Of all the ones that came up this one became my favorite.

Don’t know how I first heard of it but know I created my account while procrastinating in the library freshman year.

Line skis traveling circus videos. Lurked for a while after that, and had an account that I didn't really use. Then after using a newschoolers tag on one of my Instagram posts they liked and commented. Made this account after that.

I had heard of it in convo and on stickers. Then my freshman year Civics teacher, who had a park skiing drug dealin son, told me i wasnt a real skier if i wasnt on NS

I joined that night lmao

I was like 10 and it was cuz everyone had the stickers on their helmets but I made my first account when I was ~14 because I wanted to talk about how deeply Tanner Hall bashing comp skiing resonated with me. The thread is on my old account @vibe.crudo

Back in like 2016 I would sit in the back of my environmental science class and watch ski movies on here. Lost that account and forgot about the site until shortly before covid and started using NS a lot during that.

March of 2003, my little brother told me about a skiing community website he found. Since the internet was a new thing back then, I made an account and lurked for a couple years. Had a few really cool pen palls here in 05-06

Ted Battesh aka T3dizzle had an NS sticker and his handle and knew seemingly everyone from the site. Would send me threads sometimes. Eventually his brother made me an account a few years later so I could post park updates at Gore when we did builds.

The cults were bumping back then so it was you own mtn, regional, friend group, whatever mini forums. I barely ever checked SG or NSG the first 2 years ish.

Still funny to think about riding the chair and he would just point somebody out hitting a rail and tell you their NS name.

My brother skied with Marc Dandurand one day, who was his friend's friend. He told me about this crazy rail called "Jesus rail" he had done. He said the video was on Newschoolers. Either I went and searched it or he sent me the link on MSN, as I didn't have Facebook back then. I watched the video and then I made an account shortly after. I couldn't remember my password for a few months and then I remembered it one day. That was in 2009

Back in 2013/14 I was just getting into park skiing and NS and youtube were the only places I knew of where you could watch 1min+ edits

I was googling how to do 360s and backflips in middle school and found it, saw nothing but hate and things I didn't understand so I stayed away for a bit. Later in high school, once I actually started doing 360s and backflips I read past the bullshit and followed things like xgames and other pro stuff for a bit but didn't make my account til freshman year of college when all my new ski friends talked about it at MSU

I was a relatively active user of some automotive forums and was looking for a ski forum to get some recommendations on new skis. Came across TGR, ski talk, and NS out of those three the obvious winner is NS. I guess I didn't mesh with TGR because I'm not a 50yo dentist and I wasn't into skitalk because I'm not a 65yo retired dentist? I don't exactly fit the middle school demographic here but I guess it's closer.

I got into freeskiing when I was 12 and started watching edits on here. COP used to be a huge scene and a lot of the kids I skied with used NS so I made an account about a year later. I've been an active member since I was 13 haha

One of my good friends in high-school was big into B/S/T and I was wondering how he was always getting new Saga gear. I didnt actually ski yet, but lurked for a few years, got into skiing and then made my account in college

A friend had the sticker on their helmet, and I asked what is was. They asked me back if I knew how to get to Chad's Gap from the bottom of Alta... I did not...

Forums and message boards were just the thing to use on the internet in the mid 2000s. I think I may have come across NS from a be-mag (rollerblade forum) post back in the day. Lurked for a few years then made an account when I was 14 or 15 I think. Funny to think back on now.
