How did anyone ever learn how to use Sony Vegas Pro 9?

when i first got the program i had way to much time on my hands and just played with it forever

still probably dont know everything but enough that i need to make my edits
 
read instructions

do a tutorial or two

re-read instructions

play around

re-read instructions

do another tutorial

play around,

keep playing around on it.
 
yeah just get a clip and take some time to individually put every effect and transition on to familiarize yourself with everything
 
just keep playing around in it and you will eventually get the hang for it
