Today i bought EP pros and i got them to mount my bindings on. So i gave them my boots and they told me to wait an hour before they would be done. so i waited and when i got home they didnt mount center like i asked and they made the binding to big to fit my boot. I even gave them my boot so how the fuck can u mess that up that bad i tryed sliding the binding but still way to big. FML

Just bring them back, tell them what's up and they'll just remount them fro you. Or if you boguht the skis there and they really fucked up then they'll give you new skis

thats pretty damn hard to screw up as far as i'm concerned. As far as I'm concerned, I'm going to start talking to shop techs before I let them touch any of my stuff. like how long have they been mounting and skiing, ask them shit ike that and see if they know what they're doing. Then i'll go in there and make them feel like an idiot as I direct them to exactly where I want skis mounted no matter how good of a tech they are. I want that shit done right the first time.

Im going back tomo for sure. I still trying to figure how he fucked up the only way i could think is he grabbed the wrong boot.

If any of the new holes require being drilled closely to the original holes, it could greatly reduce the chances of your bindings ripping out. It happened to me. It absolutely sucks so if they are close, tell them to give you some compensation. It really does take away from the ski's life and resale value.

I'd get them remounted and have them put in writing that they did it wrongly in the first place and if you rip the binding out they will replace them, that's what I did when my shop put large Dukes on my skis not small one.

As far as mounting skis i agree with you to the point where you say how long have you been mounting skis bla bla bla ...then I would say to go to another shop ..or be smart enough to do it yourself big guy!

This is why I am going to learn to mount my own skis. I hate hearing about these stories and I hate having techs tell me where I should mount them when I know where I want them mounted.

Don't you know you're supposed to bring your local tech beer. This way he takes extra special care of you. this should be the first thing you learn about skiing. Also, never have em' mounted on Mondays or Fridays we don't work well on those days.

This.

Also, you deserve a mismount if you dont put a fucking sharpie line where you want your bindings centered. Comes off with acetone, and the tech has to be a huge ignoramus to fuck that up.

And no, you dont get new skis for a mismount. Thats fucking crazy. The shop should comp you a little for turning your once mounted skis into twice mounted, but demanding new skis is fucking bitch.

just got some domains and my shop is clue less when it comes to anything but racing.. anyways how do you map it out for them?

now i am scared to take my skis in. hearign stories like this freaks me out. my locals shop always trys to talk you into factory recomended but i like dead center. but my news skis are recomended for dead center so i should be ok.

My shop did something similar to this on a pair of demo skis I had bought and they got me a brand new pair. if you go to them regularly theres no way they would even think about not doing something about it.

I always put a sticker on the tip with an arrow facing up, even if the skis aren't symmetrical. Then I draw a sharpie line of exactly where I want my skis mounted and put a strip of masking tape with arrows pointing to the sharpie line with "Mount here" in bold.

Don't let someone take the skis to the shop to get mounted. Take them yourself and be very explicit with what you want. I've had about five pairs of skis mounted at a box store (no other real ski shops near me) and they have yet to mess up. The guy that mounts all the skis is pretty chill too

I try and make it completely fool proof

this is good practice. you have to be super clear and blatantly tell them what needs to happen. and you should always mark where you want them mounted.

this

I had to have told them 50 times I wanted my skis at true center and I think it was on the ticket and they still didn't get it right. From now on I'm measuring it out myself. Hell, I might even try to mount them myself.(doubtful)

friend of mine got sfbs, one of the skis was mounted backwards and off center...
so basically (dunno exact measurements) he has 1 ski regular, lets say -2 from center, and other ski also on -2 but backwards, so its actually +2....
so if he would ski em his one ski would be back 4cm from the other ski...

he obviously had them remounted and didn't have to pay shit to get it done, but now his ski is cheese :(
i seriously don't understand how you can fuck up that bad...
shop tech must've been either drunk, stoned or retarded...

The fuck...how can you mess up like that? It's what evolution invented ears for right?

It's like going to a dentist asking them to check your teeth and then they pull out a jaw because that's the thing they like to do or w/e. Bad comparison, but reading this makes me pretty mad... It's sóóó easy to mount a binding. Someone showed it to me once and I can do it myself now... Every retard can learn that...

I'd go claim new ski's/compensation/anything to make them learn something...

Gl bro!

shops are busy and have a lot of different things going on, so the more CLEAR directions you can give the greater your chances are of getting the correct set up. don't take anything for granted or leave any directions out.

I would also ask if the shop has 1. the correct jig for your binding, and 2. can it fit skis as wide as an EP Pro. If they don't have a jig wide enough, they will freehand it which will be subject to an unfortunately high risk of fail.

Always:

1. Label your tips

2. Draw a mid-sole line on your topsheet

3. Personally be there when filling out paperwork

4. Double check jig compatibility

5. Bring beer, or baked goods (they work just as well, sometimes even better)

it's as simple as laying down some tape over existing mounting recommendations on the ski and (using a ruler) draw a horizontal line on the tape where you want your boot's mid-sole to be.

one of the new kids at my shop last year miss drilled one ski....we called the customer and told them what happened and bought a new pair. So I hope your shop does the right thing and replaces your EP's.

I've only known a handful of kids with autism but all of them have been insanely good ad something. Like this kid that goes to my school has it and he's a pretty damn sick artist. Bottom line is that you're not funny and you may want to reconsider your idea that a mental disability can talk for its self.

its really not hard, i have done 4 pairs my self and all of the turned out great, no rip outs or anything, send me a pm if want good directions on how to.

honestly if you follow the basic guidelines I gave, you shouldn't have any problems. CLEAR DETAILED information goes a long long way. Just don't leave it up to someone else to guess where to mount your skis.

is it going to be another year of these threads???

yes shops mess up here and there but there is ONE way to prevent this from happening and save your self the money you/your parents spent on your skis....MEASURE it out your self put some tape down and mark it CENTER MOUNT HERE>>>>

good luck with it though man it deffinatly sucks when shops mess up your thangs
