if you want to work in canmore then get some buddies together and rent a place in canmore and then get a job in banff or somewhere. Highway construction to golden was paying 17-20hr. and in desperate need of manual labour. There is always the rigs. I did that this summer. I worked for 3 months. 2 weeks of 12 hr days. 1 week off. I ended up working a couple of my weeks off, so I worked for 2 months staight, but I made $20,000 and change after tax and with student rollovers and such for the past couple years of university, I will get another 5,000 of my taxed money back in the spring. Its a bitch of a job, but the pay is ridonkulous and during that week off you can do whatever the fuck you want. 2 of the guys that I worked with were good buddies and they live in manitoba, but during the summer they work there 2 weeks in Southern Alberta and then jet to BC for a week to go to fernie, or to go houseboating or whatever. You can do whatever the fuck you want on your week off and still have cash in the bank for later. If you do that next summer your minimum wage will be $23.50 hr for 8 hrs, then 4 hrs a day of overtime + $125 a day living allowance. I split a 20 dollar a night room with 4 guys. and at cheap groceries. In total I spent 10 to 15 bucks a day while I was working.
