How are sth bindings compared to other bindings

They are very good if and only if you get the STH Driver toe. Salomon makes 2 models for the STH binding, a Z toe piece and a Driver toe piece. The Z toe breaks and is really shitty, never get it. The Driver toe s considered one of the best toe pieces on the market because it is quite durable and very adjustable.
Compared to other bindings it is fairly good, Rossignol FKS / Look Pivot are very popular bindings because of their great heel piece.

Couldn't have said it better. I have the z toe sth 12 and have used them all season. I only weigh 150 pounds so I am not hard on equipment. I also recently bought a pair of sth 14 for next year.

If your not a heavy guy check em out!

I've used sth16 bindings these last couple of years and they have held up very well for me. I haven't had any big crashes that I can remember while using them, so I'm unsure about release reliability in this respect. But they also haven't pre-released at any time I've deemed unreasonable either.

Otherwise they still seem to function well after two years and they are easy to adjust and maintain. Solid product all around. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

yes, 12/14s are offered in driver and non driver models and both have more plastic then the 16.

There is the STH 12 Driver and the Sth 12 Oversized, whisch has an oversized version of the Z toepiece. The Sth 14 and 16 are Driver only. 12 and 14 are the same build wise, the 16 has extra metal in the toe piece but all the heels are the same other then the spring.

Oh yeah and there is also a full steel version of the STH 16 for next year, which ses a slightly differnt mold to the standard sth 16

STH heel piece is one of the best. I have the original sth 12 with the z toe and have never had any issues with it, I guess I got lucky.

i have the sth 14 (not driver) binding works great... just took a while to find the right setting for the tow piece, if you keep at your normal din you can pop out prematurely.. but a little tweeking and it works perfectly

STH 16 steel is a binding no on will need unless the person is Seth Morrison or really good AK skiers. Sounds like a impossible to break bindings. It better be for $800

They are 500, not 800. If figure that they will probably last forever, it's not that bad of a deal.

after years i have had no problems with sth 16s. nor am i even considering at this point getting the all metal ones. its a great binding and is lightweight for 16 din.
