Hotel Age Requirement

I live in new jersey and this upcoming Thursday and Friday I dont have school so i was planning on driving up to Killington for the 4 day weekend. My question is, since me and my friends are 17 would we be able to get a motel or cheap hotel room for 3 nights? I know you need a credit card on file which is no problem but do we need someone who's 18 to go with us?

Yea typically you have to be 18 to get a room. Try calling the motel/hotel and ask, they might not care if its a shitttyyy motel or they might want to talk to your parents and confirm that it is okay with them. Normally you have to be of age though just in CASE something happens.

Lol I was going through the same problem trying to book a hotel for a MT snow trip. I'm 18 and I was worried that I would need to be 21 to rent a hotel room. So, I called up a bed and breakfast inn and it turns out for that particular inn/hotel you didn't need to even be 18.....so I guess my advice would be to look up a non-chain hotel service.

i wouldn't not just roll up their without calling a couple places first, and its not your age thats the issue its your maturity level because of your age that the hotels are not going to want to give you a room, and liability.

Mount snow opening weekend we got turned away from the major hotel there saying you needed to be 19 but every other Inn/Bed and Breakfast could give a shit how old we were since we were paying with a credit card. Just look for smaller places. Good luck.

....what?

TONS of hotels have age requirements. I've stayed at many that are 18, and I've even been denied from some because the requirement was 21. Some don't have a requirement (or ignore it), but many do. As somebody said, it's a liability issue.

That's fine, but I'm telling you that I've been denied because of age. Whether it's legal or not is another issue, but it can happen.

Last season my fiancee and I went to Harveys at South Lake for a trip to Heavenly and they said that at least one of us had to be 21. I was 22 at the time so we were able to stay there, but had I not been over 21 we would have been SOL.

Bottom line, call your hotel and find out exactly. That's the only way to know for sure.

Book it under your moms name. When you check in just say she's coming up after work and said it was fine to get the room ready. Friend and I did this at Key last year for a week and they never knew.

Ya man you have to be 18. Last year there was some pretty bad snow so me and my buddies tried to get a room but they wouldn't let us. Fucked up our whole night

you have to be 18. i had this same issue last year when i was 17 it can be resolved though, have your mom/dad call the hotel explaining that you are not 18 but you have a credit card and their permission to be there. I did this 3 times last year up at killington it worked every time .

Sorry man, but the black and white issues found in textbooks don't always match real world life. Yes, if I person is stranded in a terrible situation a hotel should give them a room. If their policy has an age requirement and kids just went skiing on a four day weekend? That is laughable.

Realistically, a hotel is a business, just like a restaurant or other establishment that offers a product or service in return for money. They can turn away whoever they want. Man, our stupid society is so politically correct sometimes.
