Honda XR80 Faster and Street Legal Mods

My second bike, first bike with a clutch, is now sitting in the corner of our shop, collecting dust. I was thinking we could sell it, but I love this thing too much to sell.

So I was thinking about moding it, getting it plated, and having a sweet little mini bike I could use to run to the store, blast around on in town and when I start school next year commute and save big on insurance, gas, ect.

But, the thing is a little underpowered currently.

As far as mods go, it already has a FMF power core 2(Im pretty sure) pipe on it, and the air box is all dremeled out.

The only things I can really think of are through on a bigger front sprokett and some super moto tires, and eventually bars that werent ment to fit a child, or that would be more comfortable to use croutched down like on a cafe racer but that might be weird.

Anyone think of anything else that wont break the bank? Anyone know anything about big bore kits? Or deletes that free up power?

I've got all winter till the roads arent covered in snow water and ice to save money, but I'm not looking to spend that much, and I dont know how helpful NS will be but thought Id ask
 
can u even street legalize an xr80 u will need lights along with blinkers and new harder compound tires then wire the brake lights to the drum brakes somehow idk if their is a kit for it but it might be more work to legalize it than sell it and buy a already street legal bike
 
oh you can, they sell kits but I found a website that shows how to make a sartor or whatever its called, then wire in lights
 
Sorry about the grammar guys im tired. What other bikes do you have? I think the whole idea of bringing the xr back for sentimental value is great but idk how great it will be on the streets. If the xr is your only bike than go for it. If you have like a xr250 or some other larger 4 stroke I think the payoff will be better putting money into that.
 
Man, 80's dont go that fast..i doubt youd be able to get to 45 on it, because o struggled tO go that fast on my 100. If i were you, i would sell it, and buy like a 150 or 200. Thatll be waaayyyy more fun to ride around
 
Bore it out, or possibly an engine swap? And you will have to change the gear ratio or you will overheat like crazy.
 
sell it you dont want that, and you def dont want that to commute with youd be better off with a scooter. you would have to dump alot of money into a shitty bike. Keep it as a pit bike to bum around trails with your buds drinking beer.

i have a KLX110 there a fucking blast to ride except i get hurt on it more than i do on my race bike
