Homemade Skis

This summer I was thinking that I would try to make my own skis as a project. Has anyone ever tried to make their own skis and if so what tips do you have to improve the skis?
 
There are a few good threads on here and TGR I if you search the forums. Good luck with the project, it's a bigger task than many people realize!
 
Made my own pair. Found everything I needed to know on old threads on Newschoolers and on the forums at SkiBuilders. Similar to making skateboards, longboards, or obviously snowboards. Good luck
