Homemade Foam Pit

So I am building a foam pit in my backyard that will sit next to my trampoline. The problem I have come across however, is I do not know how to prevent mice and other rodents from getting in the foam pit. It will be approximately 10'x15'x4'. I know that i can cover it with a tarp to keep larger rodents and rain out. However a mouse would be able to run right in there. Any suggestions as to how to keep my pit sanitary?

Try to seal it up as best as you can, especially for over the winter.

You can buy a few boxes of mothballs and mix them in with the bunch, mice hate that shit, and you can smell like my uncle's house.

assemble a cover that has hinges made out of plexiglass that can cover the entire top...then put weights ontop of that just to ensure mice dont get in

mice can get through solid wood... what the fuck is duct tape going to do? shut up.
as mentioned, WD-40 ought to do the trick, though you're going to have to keep re-applying it. also, try to keep it as clean as possible- rodents love dirty places to hide away in.

your a douchebag, does it make you feel good to be an asshole to a chick (or anyone for that matter) on the internet?

1) im pretty sure 4 feet is going to be too shallow. especially if youre going to have the ground for the bottom

2)where did you get the foam/what are you using for roam/how much was it?

3) mothballs and dryer sheets. ive never heard about wd-40 but these people say it works so hey give it a try

it's "you're" and it makes me feel better than reading the nonsense i react to... so, yeah, i guess it makes me feel a bit better. she suggested duct tape to keep mice out... seriously, that's fucking retarded and i'm going to point that out. if you have a problem with that, i'd recommend just growing a thicker skin and getting the fuck over it.

I assume 4ft. is around the height of the tramp. Any higher and you might risk catching a foot/head on some trick or a mess up.

I think 4 feet might actually be pretty sufficient. only very slightly shallow at the most. At least the only foam pit i have been in didnt seem that deep. maybe 4.5, 5 feet at max. Also, i could be wrong but i dont think the girl (dont remember your name as im writing this) was the first one to suggest using duct tape. If you are going to call somebody out because of an idea, it wouldnt hurt to call out the person who had the idea in the first place as well. Just saying.

to be honest i think no matter what you do its gonna get gross really fast and i dont think this is the best idea. but if you can make it work that would be ill

yeah, he'll probably have to replace the foam and clean it out pretty often... but as you said, it could be illin.

yeah anything outdoors will get spiders and mice and shit pretty easily
maybe if you found some BIG plastic pool and filled it with foam it would work well, otherwise scented dryer sheets and mothballs would probably help

again your a douchebag... correcting you're? really? who gives a fuck. its not about "growing a thicker skin" its more about how it makes me mad that there's people like you who feel it's their job to make people feel stupid.

yeah, i corrected your spelling... it pisses me off when people can't take the extra half second to spell such a simple word correctly. and yeah, it is about growing a thicker skin- if people are going to frustrate me, i'm going to react, and if you really have an issue with that, i'd suggest you just get the fuck over it, because i'm in no hurry to change.
or you can feel free to call me out on it whenever you see me flaming another retard. i'd welcome the opportunity to completely explain myself and REALLY belittle them.

you really are an absolute douchebag and i am no longer going to waste my time with someone so negative. have fun being an asshole and belittling everyone you come across

A. Incorekt speling are har 2 rea d. Please learn to type.

B. I suggested duct tape, because it is a well known fact that one way or another duct tape can fix everything. Lol at the rage against some poor defenseless female

C. Sexist joke was sexist, and very funny, you don't need to "ask someone"

I doubt there is any way to keep small things like mice out unless they are a repellant. Pretty much they can get into everything. But watch a home made foam pit, they can be very dangerous. Make sure the bottom is level, it is deep enough, the sides are padded and it is set the saftey regulations, you might also want to look at drainage. You've probs already done this but my mate broke his neck in a foam pit just want to try and avoid that happening again.

i also figured you were intentionally being an idiot by suggesting duct tape... everyone and their mom knows that won't do shit. it was the fact that someone actually backed up such an obviously FAIL idea that blew my mind.

i still have no idea how duct tape would work at all. what would you tape? like strips along the edge so animals get stuck on them? or duct tape a tarp over the top of the pit? i have a mouse in my kitchen and that fucker goes through the fucking walls like its his job. there's fucking "sawdust" everywhere. i don't think duct tape will prevent them from going where they want.

in trying to be at least a little helpful, i'd probably put a removable tarp at the bottom of the pit. then put the foam on top of the tarp (with all that shit people recommended, wd-40, dryer sheets, and mothballs), and then another tarp on top when you're not using it to protect from rain. then you can remove everything like once a week for cleaning.

mice arent gonna hurt you pussy there chill i however would freak out about spiders now thats what you should be worried about

except that the mice are the ones that will chew the fuck out of your foam.

TO THREAD CREATOR: What are you using for foam anyway?

are you putting a solid bottom on it? if not, you should so the foam is fully contained minus a removable top, aswell once you so, you should fully caulk the inside seam to keep as much unwanted crap out as possible
