Homemade Chairlift?

I got to thinking today, and I was wondering if anyone here ever built a homemade t-bar.

I was thinking either buy an old beater car jack it up and attach a rope to the rim, or built something out of an old electric motor and run wires and shit all around.

I'm thinking the second one would cheaper all around Anybody got any idears on this?

if ur decent at building things try it? i would not trust myself on a homemade chairlift... itd probably end up sketchy as shit

i remember watching an old video about a portable rope tow thing. dont remember what it was exactly but its relevant

Something like putting pulley at the top of a hill with an auto off and a pulley at the buttom with an electric motor and start button, a heavy duty rope running in a circle and two bars to hang(opposite sides of the rope cus of weight) on to.

I'm just seeing if anyone had any trial by errors they made, or got a better plan?

you just need an electric motor and you have to gear it down pretty far obviously. not like its never been done before

Lifts/T-bars are usually constructed/concepted by civil engineers. Not just people who happen to be good at carpentry and metal welding.

the tractor idea is awesome

1 Put tractor on bricks

2 Put a wheel thing on bottom of hill

3 Link rope from tractor wheel to bottom wheel thing.

4 ?????

5 Profit

There was a freeskier videocast on this from waaay back which i stumbled upon in my itunes so if you the back catalogue of it you can see it but the long am short of it is circular loop on a winch and a big peg with a pulley wheel on it
