Home made handle for video camera.

I'm wondering if anyone has made a home made handle for a video camera. I was thinkin of making one out of PVC and have it wrap around to the bottom and hook onto the tri pod screw in. Anybody done anything like that? Anyone got any suggestions?
 
I made one out of PVC... terrible. I also took a fat 1 inch wide ruler and reinforced it, that worked ok. I just bought the opetka x-grip and its way better, $30, go for it.
 
Well I started thinking about it more. What about buying two L shaped Metal tubes and then connecting them. Then have it attach to the bottom the same. Maybe put a bicycle handle bar grip as the grip?
 
Easiest way to make one. Get to shelf brackets and bolt them together. Tape the bottom where your camera will sit to protect it from scratches. Now put a grip on top i just took some pipe insulation. Not get a bolt that will fit your camera's tripod mount and put a nut to adjust it to the exact fit.There you have it if you but all the materials it will only be $20 tops
