Copy paste of a youtube comment :)

it's a river that comes from the valley that connects to and empties directly into the World Famous Waimea Bay on the Island of Oahu....

During the summer time the bay is merely a great big beautiful swimming pool...

During the winter it pumps out those world famous 30+ footers everyone watches closely from around the world....

it's the same spot at a different time of year.....

the river is usually dammed up by the sand that they dug out until water levels overcome the sand.

i surf and have surfed somthing like these when the tide is going out and you dont get sucked under its not that deep you just get pulled out to the beginning where the ocean starts

well they build this the tide comes in fills it up and then the tide goes out and sucks all the water back into the ocean and this happens

now people cannot cross the beach, a lake is draining, and the beach water will be dirty as fuck.

well done boys

1. It probably drained pretty quickly

2. It's not necessarily a lake, it could have been water pooled up from a storm or something

3. The dirty water wouldn't take too long to disperse.

That was sick though.

Oh man, I was at that exact spot before! The bay is about as rough as a bathtub, I wouldn't be too worried about getting sucked anywhere.

Oahu is beautiful... But I'd still take Kauai ;)
