ok it was a simulated atack and it was just a wetsuit filled with seeweed. but holly shit when I see that picture I picture myself swimming and then a shark just coming out of nowhere like that. Sharks are probably the scariest animal to me because if you ever run into one your out of your element.

and I know how slim the chances of running into a shark are and I go surfing and swimming at the beach alot but sometimes I have these moments where I really think about sharks and the ocean just freaks me out at those moments. in an hour I wont even care about sharks

this was the first picture

atacdiva.jpg

i don't even like thinking about swimming with crabs and jellyfish and stuff it just freaks me out. thats the one good thing about northeast beaches, practically no sharks

its called a Carcharodon megalodon....it was around when dinosours where...it was like over 80m long and fucking massive...

Fuck You. I'm afraid enough of the ocean and then you show me that. I'm never going in the ocean again.

alot of times when I swim in the ocean and cant see the bottom this picture get in my head. and I swim as fast as I can back to the beach.

also I always go with a friend. I love my friends very much but that doesnt stop me from hoping that if their is a shark and hes going to atack that he should attack my friend first and give me a chance to swim back to the shore.

ive never told any of my friends this but I think it every single time im in the Ocean

Every time I've got surfing I try to keep completely on the board.

My dad told me this story:

He was in florida and he borrowed his mother in law's neighbor's windsurfer and he went out pretty far and started to go really fast and the board cracked right down the middle. When he fell in the water all these fins started circling him so he climbed up on top of the remains of the board and paddled to shore with part of the sail. Anywho, he went back out there with a boat and it turned out it was porpoises circling him. My dad still won't swim there though.

ohh well thank god there are shark experts who can tell us what to do in case of a shark atack. here is a Shark expert who has been studying sharks for decades and who has been swimming with sharks. here is some of his advice.

"When a shark has you in its jaws, try poking at its eyes or gills."

I dont think ill think of this if that situation ever occurs

there should be like a worldwide shark hunt day...and everyone kills as many sharks as they can, and pretty soon they will all be dead and we wont have to freak out about them quick.

^you're an Idiot. They are just as much as part of the ecosystem as you are. Yea they are scary and will eat you, but that is just a part of the risk of going in the ocean. The ocean is their home, humans dont belong there. Yea, I think they are scary as fuck, but they are also a beutiful creature that has found it's very own niche in the world. They are the kings of the ocean.

ohh my god I didnt know alot of the information in there. well if their so expensive thats a good reason for fisherman to go and get them. so they should do that.

"By 2017 it is anticipated that 20 species of shark could become extinct due to hunting, indiscriminate fishing techniques and, ultimately, man's greed.

I really hope the great white is on that list and I seriously hope that hes one of the first to go. like if he was gone by 2009 that would be perfect.

also the fact that all these countries hunt sharks and that the United states doesnt means that sharks that are here arnt being killed, and I dont know if sharks are smart enough but if they realize taht then theil come here and stay here. fuck

kill all Great White sharks they are totally useless to the earth

I am also pretty useless in the Echosystem. if I or the rest of the human race were to die today the world would be a much better place and animals could live happily in a well balanced echosystem.

....unfortunatly for those animals I and the rest of the human race have a very very very strong sence of self preservation we are smarter, better equiped and driven by all sorts of things (greed, thrill of the hunt, thrill of having, eating rare things)

so fuck sharks, lets just blow all of them up

haha so fake^

some guy is going fishing with a little mini fishing pole in the ocean while his boy is shark fishing with his hands about 2 feet away

lolz

Dude, I'm sorry, but I think you're just afraid of sharks. Instead of killing them all, why dont you just either learn to live with them like everyone else does, or just stay out of the ocean? Sharks are important predators in the ocean, and eat all sorts of animals and fish that would otherwise over populate and disrupt other ecosystems (not echosystems). Besides that fact, sharks are sweet. They are a highly evolved predator that actually uses electromagnetic fields to find its prey. They've also been on this planet a hell of a lot longer than humans or apes have, and it seems kinda stupid to kill them all just because one or two people are irrationally afraid of them.

Jaws was a movie. I'm not afraid to travel through Oklahoma just because I saw 'Twister'. Shark attacks are very rare, and you'll be lucky to ever see a shark when your swimming in your lifetime. You probably have a better chance of getting killed skiing in fact, considering avalanches, spurce holes and (possibly the most frightening) other skiers. While I support self preservation, we arent getting eaten by sharks on our way to work or anything. What you're suggesting is equivalent to leveling all the mountians, because every year, a few unlucky people get caught in an avalanche, and we are more important than the mountians. Get over your fear of sharks, thousands of people swim each year with no consequences at all.

If you still are afraid, there are small electonic devices that can disrupt a sharks electromagnetic sensors that some surfers wear (I think they're called POD's or something, look it up).

Im not usually one to take this position...but wouldn't our superior intellegnence and capabilitys make us the stewards rather than the conquerors? Homoginization of our world is a regressionist step.

Yes sharks can be dangerous...but so are mountians, sould we blow all them up?

agreed. theres no way those guys would be so calm around that. especially that douche with the fishing rod

fuck no. leave the sharks.

you expect me to dive with the bloody turtles and dolphins.

don't get me wrong scuba is still rad without the sharks, but damn i haven't done a shark dive yet. wait unti lafter that

yeah i fucking hate sharks too, those things god damn freak me out.....but when i was about 6 my aunt was baby sitting me and rented the whole series of jaws movies and mad me watch them all.... fucking parents going on vacation!

but i was like 6... it got to me back then.

but i dont have any problems swimming in the ocean.

if u enlarge that picture u can see the guy actually bringing up either a barracuda a kingfish or a wahoo right next to the sharks mouth that shark was photoshopped there

terrible idea= skinny dipping in naples, FL in the middle of the night where u cant see a foot in front of you. Naples- one of the highest shark attack areas in the US

somehow i still did it

NOOOOOOOOO sharks are amazing animals. If I had the chance I would definately go in one of those metal cages and swim with the sharks.

ohh my arnt we the analytical type what made you come to this conclusion was it one of these quotes?

-"Sharks are probably the scariest animal to me"

-"I have these moments where I really think about sharks and the ocean just freaks me out at those moments"

or maybe

-"Sharks scare the shit out of me"

however you managed to figure it out I aplaud you for your amazing insight into my phsychie

and seriously do you think a 19 year old skier has the time or resources to make every shark in the world die.

like I said earlier I have these moments where I think about it and sharks freak me out. usually lasts 15 minutes. which is how long it did today but this thread was too fun to just stop responding so I continued.

did anyone else notice I had to talk 3 times about killing every shark on this planet before anyone even said that we shoudlnt.

Peta and the WWF would be proud of you guys

to this day i refuse to see this movie.

i like swimming without crapping my pants every two seconds i'm in the water.
