Wow.

Holiday Valley reported 28 inches as of 8am.

You guys BETTER get out there and use it, even if they are too stubborn to turn the lifts.

the taget day for HV according to their site is the 28th. Oh and KB reported 2 in of snow!!! but they do have the guns set up

i hate you. you have the option of either going to the BILLS MONDAY NIGHT GAME or shredding fresh snow at HV

I live 3 hours away at school so i wont be shredding HV until opening weekend (which is rumored to be US thanksgiving weekend)

looks like they are on track for the 28th opening! ill be headin out the 30th when i get back to school! jea jea stoked

on the website they are saying there prob gonna shoot for an early opening. There planning on packing down a few trails possibly by tomorrow.

"Wow, 28" of snow and it's still coming. What a great way to start winter! This certainly opens the possibility of an early opening, but we'll know more later today or tomorrow.

The issue is that the ground is very warm and wet underneath and that lovely 28" packs down to about 6-8" with a very soggy bottom. Why do we pack it at all? The snow is so heavy, especially near the ground, that if you point your skis straight down the hill you don't move!

Plans are to pack a few slopes so that the incoming cold weather can chill down the ground (the thick snow insulates the ground and keeps it from freezing). We'll see what it all looks like on Tuesday and make a decision then. Keep checking back for updates and keep your fingers crossed!. "

Good for you guys! Hope they open up this weekend for you guys!

that sounds like music to my ears... or more like music to my eyes i guess. whatever. its making me really happy.

Hey, you WNY guys deserve a break finally. They never hit their target date of the day after Thanksgiving, so its about time they get an early, right?

Hope it happens!

yo if anyone goes up there befor this weekend tell me how it is because im gunna bust out the skis if its worth it

SOOOO SICKKK!!! soo much gnar ready to be shredded. Anyone going up there thanksgiving weekend?

Holiday Valley Resort to Open Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008

Holiday

Valley’s President, Dennis Eshbaugh, announced today that the 2008-09

winter season will begin at 9 AM on Thursday, November 20. The 28”

snowfall the resort received on Sunday/Monday coupled with good

snowmaking temperatures will allow the resort to open a week earlier

than the target date of November 28. This date is the third earliest

opening in Holiday Valley’s 51 year history!

The Yodeler Quad

Chairlift and 6 slopes will be open from 9 AM to 10 PM on Thursday.

Skiers and snowboarders will be able to choose from one beginner trail,

two intermediate trails and three expert trails. The resort expects to

open additional lifts and slopes by the weekend.

Snowmaking

operations will begin Tuesday evening and will operate as temperatures

permit. Grooming has been underway since Monday to pack the snow and

create a base.

According to Mr. Eshbaugh, “Sunday’s snowstorm

and our early opening is a great way to start off the season. Our

skiers and riders are really excited about the year. Despite the

challenging economic atmosphere, we’ve seen strong pre-season sales.

Our central location to many major metropolitan areas, the size of the

resort and the charming Village of Ellicottville makes us a good value

for families’ winter getaways this year.”

aint that just fabulous!!!

i got to skip school last year, but not this year. i might down at the valley thursday night though.

If the only lift open is Yodeler, then I'm gonna with no, they don't usually have any features in that area.

As greenman said tho, you can always make your own...

Not this weekend. The snow guns are in position to begin the Ambush on the rail park. They will have something up in about a week or 2. Jumps they usually have them up late december/january. Last year the rain hit early, wet, grassy, n muddy... There jumps got messed real early, they lost half the size right off the bat. Hopefully this awesome weather will keep up for us all!
We will keep you updated with the park and such. Only the Yodler Lift will be open this weekend, with about 6 runs in that area. We will be shredding so holler, hope to see you guys there!!
