Holderness School

I was looking on the school website and I saw that they had a freestyle team. I know there have to be some NSers that go to the school.
I'm a current junior looking to repeat my junior year at a prep school. Holderness seems like it fits what I'm trying to do, so I was wondering if anyone has any opinions. Any info is helpful....it seems like a dope school.

my dad went there he said he skied every day in the winter. I know they ski at cannon cuz i see the race team but i dont know of a freestyle team i kinda doubt it just cuz of the kinda school it is

they have a great freestyle program. the usually ski at waterville in the afternoons. the program is just as serious as the race, or hockey program there. So dont expect to just be doing laps and whatever you want. In the schools eyes its a sport and you practice it.

Anyone have info on the school itself?
Being on a freestyle team like that would be sick. I'm not great and progressing like that would be awesome.

There are two teams to choose from, "School Team" is less serious and you pretty much just shred around Loon with coaches and have a good time. "Eastern Team" skis with waterville valley academy, they will push you to learn tricks, compete in high level comps (Aspen Open, Mount Snow Open ect.) and its pretty good way to progress your skiing very fast. You will be shredding with kids who can throw switch tens and all eight without a problem.

Oh also about the school... Kind of meh. Its just a highschool with a really formal dresscode, strict rules and dorms. Drinking straight vodka out of waterbottles before shitty school dances is about the extent of the fun... Living with friends in a dorm is a huge plus though. If your in to sports you at least have a good time, you are required to play three seasons of sports.

Ya I went to holderness for four years. Just like Chase said, drinking zhenka out of polands is the extent of fun on the campus but on the plus side every day in the winter you get out of class at noon and go up to the mountain except for saturday's which is pretty dope.

go for it, your skiing all the time and getting a great education, what do you have to loose? Idk where they practice though since as it was said early in the thread the racers are always up at Cannon, but i've never seen a freestyle team

I just had a visit/interview today. It's a really nice school with lots of cool stuff. Skiing every day in the winter would be a dream come true. The academics seem nice and I really like the friendly vibe. It seems like a really nice community.
However, I could see that it could get a little lame. It's small and there isn't that much going all. But boarding school seems fun so i'm def going to think about going...

Proctor is tight. They just got a new coach, Rob Dresser who I'm homies with. He used to coach at Waterville academy and Holderness etc. like 2-3 years ago the park manager from Loon left and went to ragged and that's where proctor skis at so the parks are good as well.
