I've hit the local terrain park once before on my twin tips and I felt really noobish and intimidated by all the huge features! ANY ADVICE on how to start off and gain confidence?

I will add that I am very confident on the slopes and in the woods.

Please help a fellow noobschooler out!!!!

find a box your comfortable with and get hiking. Get some friends with you too, when your with others you push yourself more

Serious advice is to just get out there and observe. Start small and focus on progressing every run..

Search old threads for tips on the mechanics for different things like 360's and boxes. Plenty of info and edits on the interwebs

We weren't all throwing doubles on our first day in the park (well, most of us still aren't). Start in the beginner parks and learn the basics of freestyle skiing - how to pop off jumps, railslides, 180's, maybe a 360, and work your way up. There are plenty of videos online about how to do all sorts of tricks, but the best way to learn is to get out there and ride with somebody who will push you to improve.

Make sure our jacket hangs down to your knees and you're tripping over your pants. If you're barely able to walk get at least 1 size bigger.

Do that and you should be good. Also smoke weed and listen to wu tang. It's for the children

just be patient young padawon

start small, work your way up as you feel comfortable. I learned its all about commitment. If your not going to full commit to something, dont try it!

you'll pick it up eventually and get better and less scared.

source: a guy who started park skiing at 29 and is 31 now....Its never too late to do something you really wanna do.

Best advice I can give is learn 180s and get comfortable with them before you try a 360. I see too many kids hucking really sloppy 3s before they are ready.

Start small and keep sking. You'll work your way up, at first it might not seem that way but you will. Going out with friends will make you push yourself. I suggest making a rail and skiing it in your backyard, I couldn't ski a rail until I built one and put it in my backyard, it took me two days to be able to.do it with no trubble. That is what helped me the most. Good luck!

OP, you dont need to hit XXXL features to impress people in the park. Everyone loves this edit.

just have fun man, don't worry about impressing people in the park. As long as you are respectful of other skiers and boarders, your fellow park riders will probably be really nice dudes to ride with.

not really advice, but just keep at it.

In regards to boxes/rails. I was a sloppy mess until I started trying to do things unnatural. It made me focus so much more on my balance that as soon as I switched back to natural everything I was trying suddenly felt so much easier and my balance was so much better and I felt so much more relaxed.

Also, don't let people intimidate you. I've gotten used to just giving people behind me a quick heads up that I may fall. They are usually pretty stoked for me when I tell them that I'm trying something new and a lot more patient. I had a group of people I didn't know cheer for me the first time I landed a 3. Made a huge difference rather than the, "fuck, I may fall... I hope no one hits me" mentality.

That being said, I still suck :)
