Hit the noggin, weird helmet happening

ok so i took a moderate hit to the head, checked the helmet, no dents so i thought it was ok, but the next day i realized the foam(not the liner) was crooked in the shell, and now i am wondering if my helmet is fine or if i need a new one, + karma for help

i always hang onto my helmets until the shell cracks, despite most helmets telling me to trash it after one impact. i don't have that kind of money.

but helmates with dented foam should be thrown away, but it will probibly be fine

ok but i would rather pay money for a new helmet that wear one that doesnt do much to protect my head

then buy a bike helmet, they actually have mandatory standards.

i meant a helmet in which the protective aspect of it was hindered

well you already answered your own question. according to helmet companies, after one impact your helmet should be destroyed and replaced, and you say that you would rather buy a new helmet than have one that may have lost some of it's protection. so buy a new helmet dude, it'll make you feel better.

then i would definitely say that you should get a new one... you don't want to risk a concussion.

Get a bern hard hat. They arnt helmetes, there hard hats but they have foam that rebounds

Most helmets are rated only for single impacts. Once you take a good knock, its useless thereafter. The only ones i know of that are multiple impact are the bern hardhats and the giro bad lt. However the hardhats arent rated for any serious impact, they are just there to save you in little knocks.
