Hip hop and self-announcement

I've been wondering this for awhile, but why do hip hop and pop artists today or people featured as guests always have to announce themselves in almost every one of their songs. And it's only in those genres. You don't see rock or metal artists doing this. For example, you would never hear "OOOOOOOOO Danny worsnsop!! OOOOOO asking Alexandria!!!" At the beginning of one their songs, and you never would hear ac/dc or gnr "announcing" that they are the people playing the song.

In conclusion, why do pop and hip hop artists need to let everyone know that it is them in their own fucking songs? We know it's you.
 
Probably because they hope people who have never heard their music will hear it and know who it is so if they like them they can listen to them.
