Hiking/Skiing Part of Rainier

So this Saturday I am hiking part of Rainier and skiing with my older brother and a few of his friends, and was wondering what to expect, such as what skiing would be life and if the hike is pretty rough, even though we are only hiking a small section of it. Anything that we should bring that you felt you needed if youve done it?

As long as there is snow, you'll be fine. We hiked it to film early October, hiked 7 miles and 2,000 vert feet almost for Camp Muir. It was treacherous. But if there is snow, there's a lot of fun things. We brought a huge PVC pipe, and we carried it the whole way, but if there's good snowfall, bringing one up wouldn't be half bad.
