Hiking in VT.

After spending four years in VT in college, I've only now been able to get out hiking this year (moved back in December). So I've hiked Jay Peak in December and now Burnt Rock this past weekend (pic below), I'm wondering if anyone has any good suggestions (besides the obvious Camel's Hump and Mansfield, which are on the list)?

Haha. Not as much as you'd think. I'll post the original tomorrow. I saw the face pop in the b&w conversion and just dodged and burned a little bit to make it a little more prominent.

but anyways...hiking suggestions? I'm looking for quick hikes that I do with a heavier cam and tripod for landscapes at sunrise & sunsets.

yea just do the whole long trail. bring a friend too. i did most of it alone and it wasnt that awesome.

mt abraham is a fun hike south of sugarbush.

t

here is a cool spot south of belvidere mtn called devils gulch, that doesnt really go to a peak, but devils gulch is badass.

mt pisgah in the Kingdom is a great hike right next to lake willoughby.

those are all good, Pisgahs got reallly nice views and cliffs over the lake, as does Mt. Hor which is smaller and on the opp side of Willoughby Gap

My friend had his girlfriend drive him to the northern border of vermont and he took out a compass and walked south He said it was the best experience of his life and it only took him one month of leisurely hiking to get across

hike hells brook, its on the stowe side of mt. mansfield
Its one of the hardest trails in vermont, great hike takes about 5 hrs round trip
the trail is maybe 2 miles long but its pretty much straight up, make sure you have a good backpack and always have your hands free, and make sure the trails dry or you probably wont make it up
are you looking for something shorter or longer?

did you really? theres some good cliffs to the right looking up at it. Have you been in the caves that are all over the face area?

powdadream!?! you back!

Anyway. Devils Gultch/Den, its on the LT just south of Eden VT. Its a weird stretch of trail. Not that long (couple miles), no views, but the boulders that have fallen off of the mountain make this super steep gulch an unreal place to go trekking. I've hiked a fair bit, and this was one of the coolest places ive ever been.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like I've got a pretty good list of places to check out.

and for those of you who asked, here's a quick progression of the image:

The Devil in the Clouds.

1: Original RAW file out of camera, no post production.

2. Exposure and Shadow levels tweaked to bring out clouds in Camera

RAW editing. This became its own layer while the foreground (trees, joe

& jay) were processed separately.

3. The image was converted to B&W. Minimal "dodging &

burning" to bring out the Devil's features. Let me stress the "minimal"

part of the post production.

Cheers,

Dan

Deers Leap is sick, anyone else ever climbed it? Pretty gnarly face. One of the harder things I've ever climbed.

Also, someone above mentioned White Rocks, GOOD CALL! Especially on a hot summer day. There is lots of sick little natural pools to swim in with natural water slides and whatnot, sooo cool!
