Higher din?

I'm 141lbs and 6'10" and my din is set to 5. I've been racing for 10 years and freeskiing for 2 years so i'd say i'm an intermediate skier on freestyle skis.

Should I raise the din? I feel like the skis often fall off with very little force (just when landing 3s for example)

I should definitely be higher, I'm way lighter then you and I ride a 6 din. For the exact number go to a shop and say your a type 3 skier, we can't give you your exact din here.

that makes a lot more sense.

Since you've raced for 10 years i'm going to assume you're a pretty strong skier. Every binding is differently, but you almost definitely should get your dins raised higher than a 5.

Going back on topic, yes, you should raise your DIN. Try bumping the DIN up to 7 and ski like that for a day, and if you're comfortable with that maybe some more.

DO NOT do this. Preferably take it to a shop and have them do it so you know forward pressure and release settings are correct. If you are we on doin it yourself, look up a din chart and find exactly where you should be (depends on ability, height, weight, BSL), and make sure your forward pressure is correct. Don't just bump it up from 5-7 without knowin where you should be

Yeah do this. ALTHOUGH, what binding do you have OP? depending on the binding you may or may not be able to configure it yourself.

you can change your din yourself, doesnt matter what binding you have, you come out as a 6 assuming you have a ~27.5 boot and type 3 skier

im just gonna add one more thing. DIN settings isnt a "big dick" thing like some people here make them out to be, dont crank them up just to be cool. its better to release too often and slowly raise them in .5 increments than it is to crank them up and blow your knee because your binding didnt release when it should have because its way to high for your size/ability. blown knees suck so bindings arent something to mess around with

Dude I know like my friend has his at 14 and he isn't close to as good as me, the only reason I have mine in the 9-10 area is I push my skis hard and I butter them so much and I don't feel like face planting haha

You sir are an idiot if you want to flip off cliffs and land a little backseat you dont want to pop out there for you need to crank your dins up. Also your from South Dakota so clearly you dont ever ride on real mountains.

Lol dude you are 135 lbs. if you are doing 30+ ft cliffs I would understand. And I will take your word for it......by the way South Dakota has the best hill in the Midwest. (IMO) and the mountain I ski at is the second tallest east of the Rockies untill the alps. So I geuss I don't ski on "real mountains".....whatever I'm gunna go get shred some pow.
