i just started my 2nd tri-mester today, and all my classes have so much supplies required that i have to buy... i'm not made of money. what is this?? dont they want us in school?? paying for a bunch of shit doesn't make me want to be there any more than i already dont. i mean c'mon, i already spend all my money on skiing, not to mention prostitutues.

anyone else having to fork over a lot of money for school supplies other than normal paper/pencil and stuff?

Wait til you pay a grand per term for textbooks when you get to college. Not counting tuition.

just wait till college buddy. $100 a book, tons of loot towards printer cartriges, paper, classes cost a ton, + party accessories.

well the big one is photography, which i basically am taking to use the darkroom, but i've never done professional photography before on 35mm film (which is what they require) i've used digital and 16mm film when i'm lucky. but i have to buy this expensive ass photopaper and somehow get my hands on a 35mm camera (which i dont have one and if i dont get on automatically fail the class) and then just shit like lab fees and costs for dual credit classes, god damn!

in response to all you college people, i know, i'm a senior in highschool right now and am not looking forward to college... i dont even really care about going. my parents are making me so i will make them pay for the shit

Is this a complaint about high school, or your parents not giving you money for school supplies?

I feel like they should be helping you out in high school, I know my parents did. When college came around they've still helped me out a little, but most of the money is out of my hard earned dollars. I have time for a job now that I'm out of high school though, so I can make more money.

College is where it gets tough on the pockets. I guess you'll be ready for that though.

i know what you mean, but my parents are buisness people, the only reason they help finance my skiing is because i get discounts for the whole family and i guess its motivation to make "decent" grades... they want me to grow up and be a stiff in a suit, when it comes to classes that teach that, there all for it and will fork over cash. they dont really care to much for photography and intro to film...

no kidding, I paid $150 for architecture supplies this semester alone, and I had like half the stuff. Textbooks cost me around $150 too, and I only had to buy 3. I wouldn't complain.

try going to my school my first trimester cost $15,000 thats $45,000 a year plus a few 100 on books allreday plus another few 100 on bevergage and off campus food.

college blows high school away. but the only thing keeping it from being a runaway train is amazon.com. Im buying next quarters' books, for all my classes, for a total of I think $70, whereas it would exceed $300 (not horrendous) at the university bookstore. fuck that.

#1 Buying used books is a great idea.

#2 BUT they don't cost $15... let's say a certain book is $125 brand spank'n new. If a book store has used copies for sale of that book, they'll probably go around $80.

#3 They give you like jack shit for selling them back. No lie i went to take my general chemistry book back to the store and they were going to give me $9 for it. I paid $75 when I bought it used originally. And if you bought it new originally they don't give you much more. Like $12.

Idk where you're going to school where you get used texts for $15.

high school is probably the cheapest time of your life man, live it up... make the parents pay for everything... wait til you have to pay for college, rent, and bills, no fun!

i guess to follow the direction of the thread i will say.

College costs more, like an expensive whore.

High School is cheaper, like whackin your peeper.

all I needed for highschool was pens and pencils and notebooks and shit. What on earth do you need that's so expensive? Oh and graphing calculator, but that's like 100ish bucks for something you'll need for the next 8 years.

ok we get it college is expensive. my school is the same for photography. i bought a ton of paper a some fag exposed it all. it was like 50 buck opf paper too

i'm in college for photography. a 35mm system is not that expensive. i've spent about 13Grand so far this year.

You can buy a good 35mm camera body/lens used for 150-250 bucks easily. Photopaper is like 30-40 bucks. It's really not that expensive, and if it is, college will fuck you up.

yea, 35mm stuff isn't that expensive. and you signed up for the class just to use the darkroom, when you didn't have a camera?

HA, I went to university for a year and it didn't even cost me as much as my Emergency response courses... 10,000$ for professional Fire Fighter (3 month course), 2,500$ for EMR(5 week course), 5,000$ for EMT (3 month course), 1,000$ For Highangle rescue(week long course), 600$ for a class two licence (2 day course), 900$ for Ice rescue (3 day course), 800$ for Operation level instructor Highangle (5 days).

Basically I've had 8 months worth of class and it's taken over 20,800$. Not including the hundreds of dollars worth of registration fees. Talk to me when you've felt that kind of pain.

my fav is when you go to sell you books back and they give you pennies! ahah. i still remember after my first semester fresh yr of college, i spent a good $630 on books, which really inst that bad considering what other semesters have been, and i went to return them and they have me $66, ill never forget ti, i was thinign o ill get about 100, i was in shock, and then i asked for a recipt, cuz my dad will never belive that, and they told me they couldnt give me a recipt....how gay is that? then again my school sucks major donkey balls.

and i went to privet shcool for high school, so i paid to be there, and had to buy my books! but my rents were helping me so it didnt seem so bad.

Where the hell do you pay 5 grand for EMT? its 500 here... and fire I and II are not nearly that expensive, and our volunteer fire department pays you back on all that too.

Jesus christ man, by the time people get a degree in my university they will pbly be 64K in debt.

just steal it all from your school. they have all that shit laying around throughout the school and it's really easy to take. its just your money anyway (taxpayers dollars buy supplies for schools). I always take that shit from the school.

in Alberta, EMT's pratice the same protocols as paramedics (minus all the drug admin)... we have much higher education then most EMT-B or paramedic 1, 2, or 3's in BC

and i have two sibblings who both went to grade school with me, one is still at that school and my other sibbling goes to a different HS that also costs about 30-31 Grand a year

exact same deal for me. im taking photography too but im not having any troubles paying it. get a job you hippie. and its not expensive...fuckin 50 cents a sheet (8"x10") and 5 bucks a film, which youd pay 7 for in a store.

your parents can't make you go to college, you, if not already, will be 18 and there is nothing they can do. if you really don't wanna go, don't. i prefer to live my life and do what i love rather than spending money on dumb ass school and spending my life chasing money for love.
