HIGH ALTITUDE dwellers with MACS

Alright, so... I live above 10,500 feet. My one-year-old macbook recently took a shit on me. Long story short, bought a new mbpro and now two months later, my hard drive is making the same popping noise that my old one did.

This thing has never been dropped, never any viruses, no extreme programs... photoshop only really. I don't get it!?!

On Apple.com it does say that the maximum altitude for operating is 10,000ft. But it says maximum storage altitude is 15,000ft. Could the altitude I live at really be prematurely killing my hard drive? This laptop rarely goes below 10,000ft...

Has anyone else living above 10,000ft (probably not many of you) had this problem?

I'm extremely frustrated. I feel like I'm breaking my computers by just living. UGH.

And Apple haters don't have to comment... I'm not a massive fan myself. Not sure why I got another one.

i use mine on airplanes all the time and its fine...

Oh, cool, thanks. That's helpful since all airplane cabins are pressurized.

Your macbook would explode at unpressurized 30,000ft... so would your head.

I live pretty high too, not THAT high, but I've never thought about that. My harddrive clicks a little bit too, occasionally.

I'm gonna do some research. Weiiiiird.

(this post is entirely unhelpful, sorry!)

Never heard of this issue, I hate Macs for the record.

What I dont understand is why you have to junk the computer, can't you just replace the HD?

I said long story short... haha.

All my school work was on the hard drive (online college 2nd semester) so I couldn't just have them replace the hard drive because I needed my old one... It would have taken a couple weeks and I needed a computer for school work. And the closest mac store is two hours away.

I also wanted the new one with the lit keyboard, etc.

I did some research myself and I guess it could be an overheating issue that can happen at altitude... something to do with air pressure, etc.

And to mama, back up your shit!!! That popping noise means your hard drive is dying!!! I found that out the hard way...
