Is it a good ski area?

How are the parks?

How's the skiing not in the park?

What else is notable?

thanks

-Yes

-Above average for east coast

-Above average for east coast but not totally comparable to what you're probably used to.

-opens early, closes late, cool events, they have a college, Rutland.

Overall I rate it a solid seven.

Pretty wide (10 miles) with multiple "peaks".

The few times I've been it's usually pretty Ivey/groomed. Haven't had anything fresh.

The usually have a super pipe up.

Dreamer park is pretty large and they have a few really fun jib lap parks. Burton Stash park is more snowboarder friendly.

I skied 3 days with an average temp of -1 and we skied park a lot and still enjoyed it.

Is it a good ski area? Yes. Pretty big for an east coast mountain.

How are the parks? Well kept and creative rail patterns.

How's the skiing not in the park? I only ski there early and late season so I couldn't answer.

What else is notable? The stairs that you have to take for early season are a bitch.

I pretty much only do east coast now. Take that into consideration but yeh I say it's pretty amazing. Gondola doesn't get too busy even in peak season and everything worth hitting to my knowledge is within two lifts of each other. Management and lifties are noticeably nice every time I go. Seven Springs and Killington two favorites on the east for sure

- one of the biggest ski areas in the east

- 8 peaks, multiple base area's

- great parks

- top 3 nightlife in the east

- opens early, closes late, core as fuck

- can get crowded on weekends

- great snowmaking

- skiing outside of park is pretty good depending on area/ lift being rode.

- getting from far left peak to far right peak takes FOREVER and vice versa

- expensive

- 8 person gondis are sweet

- great snowmaking

- good levels of natural snow compared to other new england mountains

- not too cold compared to other resorts in new england

- rails to riches

- cares about the real skier while still appealing to jerry's

if i can think of other notable points I will

Is there much of a base area? Good bars? Anywhere to party?

didnt see this before i posted. plenty of partying going on in killy thats for sure. you shouldn't have a problem finding good bars and house parties.

Like others have said. They host some of the best events for skiing and snowboarding still going on the east coast.

You will most definitely be riding through snow guns for the first month or so of the season.

Great place to meet up with other crews early and late season.

Arguably the best ski area on the east coast. I will say it is.

Parks are top 5 on the east, but they don't change stuff up as much. Same jumps and rails are there now as they were 8 years ago...

Terrain is good, they have a solid mix of everything. If it snows, the woods are good. If it snows, the woods and hike to stuff that not many know are decent too. Don't get lost Jersey Joey.

Snowmaking is best on the east (someone will argue that). But they do have a solid system that will rival most and will push it better then all. Also lets them keep open late, into June sometimes. April and May bumps on superstar and tail gate parties are best around.

Their nightlife and "town" is pretty good for east coast. I will say best on the east there too.

The NJ/Long Island vibe is strong. Bring your hair gel and fireball and fit in at Pickle Barrel Washington birthday weekend.

Yes, although on weekends it's a complete Joey Fuckface shitshow. They open earliest and close the latest- with a huge spring mogul cornfest that pays proper homage to spring skiing.

Dont know don't really care tbh

It's good when there aren't a billion people in the way (basically midweek or late season). The mountain has some really nice pitches and areas you might never notice and the locals have a ton of stuff nearby that requires skinning.

Notable? Superstar in May. Always a fun time, lots of shenanigans and drunken tailgating. Also the access road has arguably the best night life in the state outside of the actual city of Burlington.

I have learned that there's a rad culture of these big chalets where the real parties happen. I don't know much about it, other than I've found myself at a few of them over the years.

One of the van drivers told us that Killington is legendary for these huge party chalets, and if you're trying to find a bar to party at you're going in the wrong direction.

Sketchy info at best.

Pretty sick park and mountain in general. Never skied anywhere on the west coast but tied for first place on the east coast for me. I was thinking of getting a college pass for 400. But i'm not sure how many times ill be up since i live in jersey.

I've only partied at Killington once, and it was the wobbly barn annual Halloween party. Honestly one of the best nights of my life and it wasn't even peak season yet

Its an ok area. basically its arguably the vail of the east with high prices and people who come up from the city to stay at their condo for the weekend. They have a good park. they have some steep terrain and nice glades, but no matter what trail you're on there's still a pretty good chance of crowds, and if there isn't a lot of fresh groomed snow in the morning theres a 99% chance everything will be skied off by 1PM.

Go to The Pickle Barrel, and Wobbly Barn those are the main two bars. Plenty of others along the main access road so lots to keep you entertained.

I've been to Killy three times and enjoyed it every time. Closest thing on the East Coast to feeling like a bigger west coast mountain. There's some steeps, trees, and the parks are fun. Dream Maker is there bigger park with a nice jump line, and on the Skier's far left (i think it's Ramshead Mountain) Is a small/medium lap park with a high speed lift that's fun as shit.

Its a little bit less of a bitch to get to for just about everyone than any other big East coast hills. So its crowded but spread out its manageable. Lots of money for snowmaking and parks. Most of the stuff to do is on a main access road to the mountain/parking area. Good midsized separate mountain next door (same ownership) called Pico good for avoiding crowds. The mountain has a funky layout but decent terrain for not being much of a mountain itself. Similar to Sunday River. Stowe is the best in Vermont Killy is probably tied with a couple places for #2 (Jay, Sugarbush.)

Depends on what you determine a good ski area. Are there multiple lifts that access a variety of [east coast] terrain, yes. Is there a gondola? Yes, two. Are there cliffs to drop? Some, if you know where they are. Are the lines manageable? Yes, although like said previously busy weekends and holidays are shit shows full of jerrys. There are certain trails to definitely avoid because they are usually skied off or full of noobz. Depending on the previous weather, the conditions are usually up to par, the groomers do a good job gettin er done.

The parks are okay. Timberline on ramshead is fun, smaller features, but the whole length of the lift, similar to nitro at carinthia (sort of). Mouse run is always fun, medium sized features, usually only one or two jumps. There is access to that via rope tow, although you'll have to share that with a bunch of ski racers. Also this park is only around for early season. (Should be an all season park but whatever) Dream maker is the large sized park which is over on bear mountain, away from the goobers. Bigger jumps bigger rails. The parks definitely lack a sufficient amount of jumps, although the rail game is on point.

If you are not skiing park, stay away from Ramshead, Snowshed, and Snowdon "peaks" das where all the gooberz are. I recommend sticking to K1 and the peaks to the skiers right of that. More challenging terrain, and plenty of hidden gems to be explored in that area.

There is the access road that is the connect from rt 4 to Killington base area, plenty of bars, usually full of more gooberz than anything. Like bishop said, gotta go with the sketchy info and find the house parties, they are most enjoyable. But I am not much of a party goer so my word is no better than anyone else. Most bars are super old school, do have ski town feel, but mostly played out. Best bars to go to are umbrella bars, or the bar at the peak lodge, or K1 base lodge bar.

I think it's a good ski area, lots of vacationers but they can be avoided

parks are good, I don't have much to compare them to

the skiing out of the park is great if you know how to get around for sure

the snowmaking is crazy, they went from no snow to skiable terrain in 4 hours for opening day last year
