you guys are acting as if hockey is the classiest sport out there. God dam its hockey, never thought Id ask this but do you know what hockey is????
 
well seeing as how almost all of these sports already have world championships, i'd say the point of olympics is to make nationalistic assholes feel good about themselves for living in the same country as a great athlete. that and politics.

Why dont you just shut up and go back to watching mundane boringness like football and baseball, or rigged BS like basketball... because i bet many of you guys dont even know what 'forechecking' means and you'd mistakenly call line changes "substitutions".

I wish there was fighting in international play... a line brawl would be hilarious right now.
 
to bring nations together in a time of peace and to stop world conflicts. generally it symbolizes peace, love and unity and isn't so much about winning individual events as it is about forging relationships with other nations.

That's the score, that's how the winner is determined. I'm also liking all the Canadians claiming that hockey is suddenly not their national sport...just wow. So really you don't care that much if you lose the tournament then...I mean, if it's not your national sport and all.

Hockey for most people is like speedskating, no one follows it, but we watch it at the olympics and get pumped for america.
 
I'd bet everything i own, if we took the first dozen canadians who posted in this thread and put them against the first dozen americans in a game of hockey, we would utterly destroy you guys. i bet half wouldnt even know how to skate
 
thats funny if you really think some of us dont play/understand the game and dont watch the NHL/AHL/international play regularly.

unless your a canadian living in the states i fail to see why you would root for canada. even if your NHL team has a bunch of guys playing on team canada.

 
thats cool and your probably right. as i think a lot of the americans in here are just trying to be edgy. but are you really challenging kids over this. your obviously salty over the game. which really doesnt mean much anyway. canada has prettty much just as good a shot as the USA to medal.if this were a medal game it be a different story.
 
No, I find it really funny you say this because i'm SURE some of you dont play/understand the game of hockey who are commenting in this thread... Not all of you of course, but many i'm sure.

That's another reason why i'm rooting for Canada. Because they ALL actually care about it and it means a shitload more to them. Here? most of americans just like "america fuck yeah, another medal" and forget about it for 4 years...

haha most highschoolers here suck at stickhandling and such. Kids in highschool who aren't good on finesse and the fundamentals just wreck kids to make up for their short comings. Every HS hockey game I've been to has been extremely physical. I wouldn't call it pussy shit by any means, it is probably the same shit you have up there.

whatever. after reading alot of the posts i somewhat agree with you about kids not playing/understanding the game.

but i still think that is a cop out reason to not root for your own country.
 
and also even though ive probably post in this thread 15 times. it was an unessesary thread being that there are already 2-3 Olympic hockey threads going on.
 
You ever think about the norweigian hockey team? do you think they want it? Of course they want it...

But oh, thats right Norway's more obsessed with soccer, and biathlon... so thats why they have always lagged behind their scandanavian brothers in sweden and finland.
