If you have ever booted or snowshoed in the skin track know that I hate you to your core. That is all.

oh fuck off, I hope your glue fails.

I will confess

I did this before. I had to boot pack a long ass way bc I dont have a touring setup. sometimes you either get postholed or become the posthole if you know what I'm saying.

It annoys me when I'm skinning bridger or popular places, but tbh I can just break new a new track so it's not the absolute worst.

Alpental is notorious for this. They have a high traverse back country gate and it’s 75 percent snowboarders just walking on it.

The only people that complain about this just very recently took a basic avy course and has maybe ventured into the backcountry maybe twice in his life.

Go ride a lift if you don't want to earn your turns. Those people post holing are working twice as hard as you to ski the same crappy slack country.

Never understood why people get so worked up over someone bootpacking the skin track. I personnaly give exactly zero fucks if people have bootpacked the skin track I'm on. My skis are long enough that I won't drop in the holes, and unless the track is very steep, it likely will not impact my grip at all. If it really is that steep, then the bootpack is likely straight up while the skin track is not, so I just don't see an actual reoccuring scenario where it really matters.

And at the end of the day, if you're skining up an established skin track then it's likely not yours, you're benefiting from someone else's work, so fuck you for even complaining, set up your own track, you lazy fuck.

Some backcountry Jerry gave me sass at the bottom of a 5 minute boot pack at the family resort that he was transitioning to skin on. Beat him to the top and wished him a good day when he finally got there. Now who’s sassy.

this thread doesnt make any sense. i just take the chairlift, no walking required to bomb these dank ass blue groomers ??

Update:

Corona virus has pushed me into getting an AT set up and getting into the back coutry like i have wanted to for years anyway. Now that i fully understand skinning up a post holed track to get up to a crusty line i gotta say..... OP is still a lil bitch. Like go 2 feet over. Its fine.

awwww the granola eating van dweller hippie fuck can't afford a lift pass and has to ski over some foot prints :(

that is tragic man. really tragic. I really hope you're doing okay. please don't kill yourself.

When the snow is deep it's def slower and more effort to set a new skin track. Also in this situation when I went out last week people were taking the sides off of traverses with snowshoes.

To some extent it doesn't matter but it's all etiquette which a lot of people lack. Same for park stuff. People don't know so whatever, but when people are clueless or don't give a fuck in avy terrain it's kinda sketch.

Most of the people snowshoeing went I went out were mostly in the meadows. And part of the climb up the ridge was packed firmly enough that they could have walked with crampons and not even dug it up much. Idk it's nice to be able to cruise.
