I herniated two disks this season. I let my back hurt for about 3 months before finally getting it looked at, which was a really bad idea in retrospect... Don't ski until it's healed! Commit to physical therapy, get sports massages, and do pilates - seriously, it really helps. Do lots of core and back muscle stretches and strengthening exercises. I haven't skied since I found out about it, but I'm told that I'll be perfectly fine by next season.
