Here is the way to breathe under an avalanche

Yo guys!

Here in Italy we're having the snowiest winter since many years, and since the resorts are closed because of covid (and probably they won't open till the end of the season) it's time to start ski touring.

I was on the net to inform me about the avalanche situation around my home mountains when I found a strange product released like 8 years ago: an avalanche respirator.

Basically, when you're buried by an avalanche, this respirator allows you to use the air contained in the snow to breathe, giving you the chance to survive up to 20 minutes more than you actually would.

"yo this is cool man, it won't be as cool as the Jerry's pow snorkel, but still" I thought.

A downside is that the "mouth piece" must be worn during all the line (so freaking annoying), and it also acts as teeth protector.

But in the end I think that if this product hasn't spread throughout these years, there must be a reason.

What do you guys think?

Looks like a great value brand avalung. They're nothing really new, the idea that they must be held in the mouth as you're being swept and tumbled by a slide doesn't sit well with me. Just get an airbag, but more importantly, get educated on avoiding risk in the first place.
