Hemp Ski Core?

I was pondering the applications of hemp and an idea crossed my mind: Hemp cores. Seeing as hemp fiber is super tough and durable it seems like it could be used for cores if not in conjunction with other materials such as bamboo and carbon fiber stringers. Does anyone know if they exist?

I was talking to a composites company awhile back, and they are experimenting with alot of "natural" composites. Sounded like natural fibers worked ok but not the greatest. So there may be a potential, but nothing in our immediate future.

It has been used as a composite in longboards in place or with fiberglass. I don't know much bout it other than that. Are hemps mechanical properties on par or near those of fiberglass?

im dissapointed that someone as pro-trolling as yourself would shoot this down so quickly

Meh, sounds more aesthetic than functional, but I'm sure the kids would eat that up if you could make it work.

Faction has the ski with a flax and recycled plastic core, there are a few snowboard companies doing the same.

i dont know if it could work as only the core, but something like bamboo cores with hemp instead of carbon stringers might be possible. im sure that hemp could be used somewhere in making skis

I could see the most function out of a hemp canvas as a topsheet, other than that, I'll take bamboo with carbon stringers, cured in baby seal's blood for ultimate durability.
